Job Summary:
This position is responsible for sorting and processing copper and brass materials as well as stacking auto batteries. Material will be dumped onto a large metal table, where copper and brass must be sorted into the correct barrels. Sorting requires distinguishing between clean (no plastic, no steel, no contamination) and dirty (material with plastic, screws, or other contaminants) metals. Training will be provided on proper identification and sorting techniques.
In addition to metal sorting, this role involves stacking car and truck batteries onto wood pallets, three rows high, with cardboard in between each layer, and then wrapping the pallets in plastic for safe transport by forklift. When sorting or stacking is complete, other tasks such as sweeping and maintaining a clean work area are required. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working outdoors in varied weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
· Sort copper and brass into designated barrels (clean vs. dirty).
· Identify contaminants such as plastic, screws, or steel.
· Stack auto batteries on pallets three rows high with cardboard layers.
· Wrap stacked pallets securely in plastic for safe travel.
· Maintain a clean and organized work area, sweeping and assisting with additional tasks as needed.
· Work safely and efficiently while following all company procedures.
Lifting Requirements:
· 20 lbs. to 45 lbs. copper/brass pieces.
· 30 lbs. wood pallets.
· Auto batteries (weight varies, often 30–50 lbs.)
Requirements:
· Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow directions accurately.
· Reliable, dependable, and shows up ready to work with a positive attitude.
· Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
· Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining productivity.
· Experience in non-ferrous recycling environments preferred, but not required (training provided).
· Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.

Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM (40 hours per week)
18-19/hr DOE
