A community partner of Culinesse, LLC is looking for an Assistant Dining Room Manager to join their team! An Assistant Dining Room Manager who can lead by example and has experience with high-volume catering services. 


The Assistant Dining Room Manager works with the Dining Room Manager on meal service and catering to residents and guests. Assists the Dining Room Manager with training and supervising dining room staff as needed. Works closely with the Dining Services management to identify training, scheduling, and retention needs. Assures that sanitation standards of the dining room are met. Performs all functions required to provide courteous and effective service in the dining room. 

This is a highly collaborative position that requires the ability to balance multiple tasks at one time, prioritize, work with diverse constituencies, and address competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.


Tasks

  • Maintains and supports the mission and the core values of Dunwoody Village    
  • Works closely with Dining Services Management; keeps Dining Room Manager,    
  • Dining Room Supervisor, and hosts advised of all Dining Room issues, meeting at least weekly. 
  • Oversees Waitstaff, Host, and Dining Room Supervisor; Assists Dining Room Manager with Bartender supervision and scheduling.  
  • Assistant Dining Room Manager with interviews and training of staff as needed.
  • Assures that waitstaff and hosts comply with uniform and name tag policy: clean uniforms, shirts
  • tucked in at all times, and wearing name tags.
  • Assures all waitstaff under the age of 16 punch out by 7:00 p.m. during the school year, and that their total hours do not exceed the legal limit. 
  • Assures all dining room operations meet departmental and regulatory guidelines for sanitation and food handling.
  • Reports service and staff issues to Dining Room Manager and Food & Beverage Manager in a timely manner; assist with identifying areas of improvement for staff as needed. 
  • Assist Dining Room Management with staff schedules.
  • Assist with all aspects of special function and guest billing.
  • Regular meal service and daily Dining Room operations:  
  • Oversees waitstaff/host/ess to see that all aspects of meal service and catering services meet department policy, company objectives and residents’ expectations. Assist staff as needed.
  • Display courteous manner on telephone and in interaction with residents. 
  • Works with other Dining Room Management to ensure side work is completed each day.
  • Staff In-service training.   
  • Assists with quarterly staff training meetings. 
  • Assists with pre-meal service meetings before every evening meal.
  • Assures that all staff opening and closing assignments are completed.
  • Assists with regular training to ensure staff members are familiar with fine dining practices and procedures. 
  • Learning the payroll and POS system to be a back-up and trainer.   
  • Assures that all dining rooms meet department and regulatory guidelines for sanitation and food    
  • handling.
  • Understands and participates in all emergency drills.    
  • Follows safety and emergency procedures; Trains all staff on emergency protocol and the Heimlich procedure 
  • Attends mandatory inservices.  
  • Completes annual compliance and HIPAA training and exhibits behavior as set forth by Dunwoody Village’s Code of Conduct in the performance of job duties. 
  • Adheres to Dunwoody Village’s policies and procedures regarding the compliance program and reports any potential concerns as quickly as possible.
  • Follows all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to his/her position.
  • Performs all other duties assigned by department manager.

Working Conditions

  • This position is a full-time role.
  • Full-time benefits include (but are not limited to): health, dental, life, vision, and long term disability. 
  • Generally in an indoor setting.
  • Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends and extended hours as business dictates.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled, temperate environment; however, may be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.



Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required – Bachelor’s degree is preferred;
  • Specialized training in dining services management and nutrition is desirable;
  • Must successfully complete an approved sanitation and safety course;
  • Two years' experience in quantity food production/service (or equivalent experience) and one year personnel supervision is desired;
  • Current ServSafe certification is required in accordance with state/county law, or must become ServSafe certified within 30 calendar days of hire;
  • Basic computer skills is a must;
  • Ability to understand and place into action basic food safety/sanitation requirements and procedures;
  • Knowledge of, and ability to use, all department equipment;
  • Ability to maintain records and complete reports as required;
  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, to actively look for ways to help people, and to be aware of others' reactions and understanding why they react as they do;
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession is required; this includes experiential knowledge required for management of people and/or problems and excellent oral, reading and written communication skills;
  • Ability to adjust actions in relation to others' actions, to monitor or assess the performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action;
  • Must comply with any dress code requirements;
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and some holidays.
