Job Summary
Under the direction of the Manager, IT M365 Platform, in the Enterprise Infrastructure Services section, the successful candidate will work closely with the M365 Team including IT Architect and IT Systems Specialists to successfully deploy Microsoft 365 throughout the Corporation. They will be expected to provide excellent adoption, change management and technical expertise & implementation support for the entire Microsoft 365 suite of products including M365 Apps, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Copilot, Teams, Intune, Company Portal, Windows Autopilot, Purview, Power Platform, etc. They will also be responsible for developing and maturing processes and practices related to accounts, licenses, data, etc. related to the Microsoft 365 environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Champion and support the City’s adoption and implementation of Microsoft 365 platform, apps and services.
- Work closely with the M365 Manager, IT Architect and IT Systems Specialists to design, maintain and evolve the M365 roadmap.
- Develop comprehensive communications such as emails, SharePoint content, presentations, etc. to drive adoption of M365 and support staff with excellent change management practices.
- Design, prepare, improve and maintain training documentation for staff including delivery of training.
- Proactively communicate with users through email, electronic advisories and other communication methods including leading key user meetings to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
- Document configurations and policies to support the use of M365 services.
- Develop and prepare requirements documents including time estimates on development/configuration, testing, documentation, and training.
- Set up governance & controls for the M365 platform to support the development of applications and solutions that are optimized for security, productivity and efficient collaboration.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to share knowledge, educate and further establish internal capabilities. Work with non-IT stakeholders to understand requirements to ensure appropriate use and adoption of M365 services. Gather requirements and issues by interviewing clients in partnership with business area and subject matter experts.
- Build, test and deploy best practice configurations and ongoing oversight of Microsoft 365 products and services including Office 365, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Intune, Company Portal, Windows Autopilot, Power Apps, Power BI, Azure Active Directory, Azure Identity Protection, Azure MFA, etc.
- Research, evaluate and implement new functionality in Microsoft 365 and related cloud solutions to improve system use and results.
- Support the implementation of new business processes and solutions including change management.
- Provide functional expertise for projects/systems that integrate with Microsoft 365 platform.
- Provide operational assistance and oversight in support of service delivery. Respond to M365-related help desk calls including troubleshooting problems and engage with clients as required.
- Maintain and upgrade skills in relation to current and new Microsoft-related technologies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Post-secondary school graduate in computer science or a related discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience in an information technology environment or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- 3+ years of experience supporting and implementing Microsoft and Microsoft 365 technologies.
- Certification related to adoption and change management is an asset (i.e. Prosci).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of M365 product suite and Microsoft Azure with a solid understanding of the architecture, features and administration of M365 offerings with design, build and deployment experience including M365 Apps, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Copilot, Teams, Intune, Company Portal, Windows Autopilot, Purview, Power Platform, etc.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Information Protection solutions (WIP, AIP, labelling, classification, & DLP) and Microsoft Advanced Security Stack (Azure Identity Protection, Azure ATP, Azure MFA, Microsoft Cloud App Security, O365 ATP, Defender ATP, Azure Sentinel).
- Broad general knowledge of IT infrastructure, client-server & web applications, programming & scripting languages, databases, storage solutions, servers, networking, virtualization, performance tuning, web services/technologies.
- Familiarity with DevOps, orchestration, scripting and automation.
- Working experience with implementation life cycles, methodologies, tools and practices.
- Demonstrated experience managing effective relationships with third party suppliers.
- Ability to tactfully negotiate with clients and influence colleagues to achieve successful outcomes.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex problems and verbalize technical nuances into easily understood terms.
- Financial acumen and understanding of the business value provided by IT investments.
- Results-oriented and performance-driven.
