Reporting to the Dean, Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), the incumbent will work with faculty, colleagues within CTL, and academic managers across the broader college community to fulfil the college-wide strategic, academic and CTL priorities focusing on researching, developing, designing and facilitating professional development pathways, mentoring and coaching faculty, supporting a culture of academic integrity, supporting the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research, promoting universal design for learning practices, supporting the integration of artificial intelligence into assessment and curriculum design, and supporting the integration of equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EDIB) into teaching practices for full-time and non-full-time faculty.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Champion teaching excellence by designing, facilitating, and evaluating faculty development initiatives such as workshops, events, and consultations focused on authentic assessment, academic integrity, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB), and faculty success
  • Promote evidence-informed pedagogy by aligning instructional and assessment strategies with current research and best practices in teaching and learning.
  • Provide individualized coaching and mentoring to faculty to support continuous improvement in teaching effectiveness and student engagement.
  • Support the creation of inclusive and effective learning environments, both in-person and online, through pedagogical guidance and instructional design support.
  • Develop and sustain faculty learning communities and communities of practice that foster collaboration, innovation, and reflective teaching across disciplines.
  • Guide faculty in course design, delivery, and assessment using evidence-based approaches that significantly enhance student learning outcomes. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to faculty development and student learning related research, including experience in research dissemination and the application of findings. 
  • Lead and contribute to grant-funded teaching and learning related research projects, such as HEQCO and eCampus-funded projects, including proposal writing, project management, and dissemination of findings.
  • Support faculty in navigating the pedagogical and ethical implications of AI, fostering critical engagement and responsible use of AI technologies in teaching and learning.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to articulate the goals, processes, and outcomes of faculty development initiatives.
  • Serve as an instructional consultant to faculty and academic departments, offering expertise in curriculum development, teaching strategies, and educational technologies.
  • Collaborate with program teams, committees, and departments to ensure faculty development aligns with institutional priorities, including the Strategic Plan, Academic Plan, and Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) departmental goals.
  • Collaborate with various teaching groups, including NFT and Program Coordinators, to ensure faculty development aligns with institutional priorities.
  • Advance digital innovation in teaching and learning by supporting faculty in the adoption and integration of emerging technologies and digital pedagogies.
  • Contribute to institutional initiatives by participating in academic, campus, and college-wide activities, including committee work and strategic projects.
  • Represent the institution at the provincial level, participating in committees, working groups, and professional organizations to share expertise and contribute to sector-wide initiatives.
  • Present scholarly and professional work at internal and external events, including conferences, symposiums, and showcases.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field of study that may include, but is not limited to, higher education
  • A minimum of two years of teaching experience, or equivalent, at a postsecondary level or adult learning environment
  • A minimum of three years of relevant faculty development experience
  • Experience in some or all of the following: curriculum development, academic research, UDL, academic integrity strategies, artificial intelligence supports, adult learning methodologies, faculty mentoring and evidence-based teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate across differences and deal with challenging and often emotional subject matter with diplomacy, integrity, and a commitment to healing and growth
  • Demonstrated ability to work with various employee groups, including FT and NFT Faculty and Program Coordinators
  • Familiarity with scholarship on faculty development, diverse learner needs, educational technology, student engagement, authentic assessments, and academic integrity
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Experience communicating and effectively collaborating with multiple stakeholders to produce deliverables
  • Proven ability to work independently and meet timelines/deadlines
  • Strong consultation and project management skills
  • Familiarity with college departments and academic initiatives
  • Experience working with faculty in developing teaching and learning skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to mentoring peers
  • Knowledge of EDI and UDL principles as they relate to curriculum development and delivery
  • Experience applying an innovation lens to curriculum work 
  • Experience with curriculum development and/or program renewal and/or course design
  • Designed, developed, and delivered courses in multiple modalities, which could include hybrid/online/HyFlex/dual synchronous
  • Proven ability to contribute to, and work in, a positive team environment
  • Digital competencies include being well-versed in Microsoft Office Suite (including Co-Pilot), Learning Management Systems, digital authoring tools, AI large language models, and other educational technology tools 
  •  Ability to effectively integrate new technology into teaching and learning 
  • Ability to provide faculty development support to more than one subject or program area

Acceptable proof of education (degrees, credentials) from recognized postsecondary institutions or confirmation of international equivalencies will be required as part of the selection process.
