The role:

Join our technical operations team at our state-of-the-art prawn farm in Proserpine. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Technician to play a vital role in producing our high-quality, healthy, and sustainable Australian Black Tiger Prawns.

This is a permanent, full-time role and will be crucial in supporting our hatchery and water quality operations to ensure optimal animal health and growth. The role offers a highly sought-after 2/2/3 roster, working 12-hour shifts that provide 7 days off per fortnight, perfect for maintaining an excellent work/life balance.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily water quality sampling, testing, and analysis for hatchery and pond management.
  • Manage microalgae growth and conduct observations using intensive microscope techniques.
  • Perform larvae feeding, assessments, and broodstock breeding performance monitoring.
  • Prepare detailed reports on water quality metrics and hatchery activities.
  • Work collaboratively as a team to execute the daily production plan safely and efficiently.
  • Uphold the highest standards of biosecurity and a Zero Harm safety culture.


Role requirements:

  • A fast learner who is self-motivated, reliable, and has a strong passion for hands-on work.
  • Demonstrated mathematical aptitude and strong observational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • An adaptable and resilient attitude suited to a fast-paced working environment.
  • Prior experience in prawn farming is advantageous.
  • Must have a current driver’s licence, own reliable transport, and full Australian working rights.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical assessment.
  • Preferred, but not essential: Experience in water quality, farming, or a technical field; knowledge of algal identification; or qualifications in Marine Biology or Aquaculture.
