About Cobalt & Speciality Materials

What you will be doing
We are currently looking for a Procurement Manager to join our team in Bruges. In this role you will oversee purchasing spend and ensure reliable, cost-effective supply of raw materials and indirect goods. This role drives structural savings and total cost of ownership improvements, while scouting for innovative suppliers and sustainable sourcing opportunities. You will manage strategic supplier relationships, translate business needs into procurement strategies, and provide market intelligence to support decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Secure raw material supply as needed for the business line (BL)
- Keep close contact with Sales, R&D and Production management to follow up on medium and long term product requirements and translate these needs into a clear sourcing plan
- Negotiate supply contracts towards lowest cost of ownership and guarantee security of supply
- Follow up execution of the supply contracts
- Manage and coach a team of buyers and set internal KPIs and targets
- Define and implement a strategy to continuously achieve lowest cost of ownership for the main raw materials d
- Develop Procurement Strategies for key products or categories
- Work on all aspects of the procurement process
- Actively keep control of Capital Employed of raw materials towards targeted levels
- Develop strategic partnerships for key raw materials, and follow up supplier evaluations, claims and statistics
- Continuously watch and analyze raw materials market evolution, map raw materials, including historic volumes and prices
- Follow market evolutions of the key raw materials, their availability and their cost drivers and communicate with sales team
- Sourcing of more sustainable, biobased or recycled products – develop methodology and procedure, ensure supplier compliance, scope 3 spend reporting
- Ensure accurate and relevant reporting to business (market analysis, surveys, issue spend, etc.)
Who we are looking for
Requirements:
- Master degree in chemistry or (commercial) engineering
- 5+ years experience in a similar role ideally in a chemical/manufacturing environment
- Technical-commercial skills to discuss with suppliers and R&D on product development
- Good people management skills and appreciative of teamwork
- interest in industrial processes and technology. Understanding of products, specs, process capabilities (refining & transformation)
- Fluent English and Dutch (both spoken and written) – knowledge of French and German is an asset
- Strong analytical mind, efficient and methodological in solving problems.
- Solutions oriented, well structured & decisive.
- Good communicator and negotiator with developed reporting skills (oral and written) and a sound commercial feeling
- Autonomous, independent and accurate.
- Enthusiastic able to proactively build networks of contacts inside and outside the company, and to inspire a team
- Connector: able to connect the interests of R&D, Operations, Sales and Procurement.
