The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced EAL teacher for our Secondary School, who engages and inspires learners through their own passion and professional practice. An ideal candidate will have significant EAL expertise, and experience of working with multilingual learners in diverse bilingual/multilingual settings. An EAL teacher at ZIS will hold high expectations for learners, together with high levels of support.

Requirements

Applicants should have at least 3 years experience in teaching EAL, preferably at an international school. For non-Swiss/EU applicants, extensive international experience is required. 

• Learner-centered focus, with the ability to differentiate for diverse learning needs
• Teaching license including EAL specialism, Masters level study preferred
• Documented record of excellence in teaching
• Understanding of and experience using translanguaging strategies
• C2 level of English with excellent writing and oral communication skills
• Familiarity with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
• Experience using diagnostic language assessments and data to inform teaching
• Understanding of inquiry & concept based curriculum and instruction approach
• Commitment to ongoing professional development
• Collaborative, inclusive team-oriented disposition
