Job Purpose:
This is an excellent opportunity for an underwriting assistant, with a focus on renewable energy, to join our renewable energy team. Based in London, you will be responsible for supporting underwriters in the acquisition of new business and retaining existing business as part of a profitable portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately entering risks onto the internal company underwriting system.
- Liaising with our processing team in Bridgend.
- Ensuring the documentation of renewable energy risks are completed and filed correctly.
- Resolving accounts queries.
- Ensuring the accurate entry of aggregations.
- Researching latest developments in offshore wind.
- Modelling natural catastrophe risks.
- Risk reviews / pre-underwriting.
Key Tasks
- Data entry to front and back-end computer systems for new business enquiries, mid-term adjustments and renewals.
- Production of documentation including quotations/non-binding indications (NBIs), certificates of insurance and endorsements.
- Check quotations/NBIs, certificates, endorsements and broker slips for accuracy.
- Invoicing original, additional and return premiums.
- Preparation and completion of electronic policy records.
- Prepare and maintain records of all discussions and negotiations with clients following meetings and telephone calls, ensuring a complete audit trail at all times.
- Ensuring the underwriters have completed their underwriting notes and that these are maintained and are kept up to date.
- Utilise the electronic document management system for all enquiries, quotes, bound and renewing business in order to ensure a complete audit trail at all times.
- Working in conjunction with the accounts team for premium related queries and assisting in chasing and obtaining outstanding client payments.
- Respond to, and handle, new business, mid-term adjustment and renewal enquiries received on a face-to-face basis, via the telephone or by email
- Renewal terms prepared and sent to client as directed by the Underwriter responsible for the account.
- Provide support to Underwriters on new business and renewal submissions, which will include a preliminary review of the broker submission, modelling of natural catastrophe exposures, preparation of new/renewal quotations and NBIs in the TMGX (formally GCube) Xii quote document format.
- With Underwriter direction, present and deliver quotations and NBIs to clients in accordance with company standards and to ensure all such quotes/NBIs are followed up on until their conclusion and recorded on TMGX (formally GCube) systems as appropriate.

- Achieve a solid understanding of internal processes and systems
- Complete all administrative tasks for the team and ensure underwriting files are complete and correctly recorded in a timely manner
- Demonstrate the required level of technical knowledge and skill
- Gain an understanding of TMHCCs underwriting philosophy and cultural values
Skills and Experience Specification:
Essential:
- Demonstrable interest in renewable energy
- Educated to at least A level or equivalent with good Maths and English GCSE grades
- Conscientious and hard working
- Good attention to detail
- A high level of IT literacy, including Word and Excel
- Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills
- Good communication skills
- Works well in a team
Desirable:
- Prior experience of working in a similar role within an Underwriting company.
- Ideally Cert CII qualified or working towards qualification
