Position: Welding/Fabricating Back Shop Foreman

Position Overview: Delta Metals seeks a strong leader in welding, fabrication, and quality control to lead a team of diverse welders and fabricators in our industrial services shop. Your attention to detail, time management, and lead-by-example nature will be critical assets to this role. Duties & Responsibilities:
Production & Productivity
- Assign and oversee individual work duties for all assigned employees
- Manage workflow through the welding shop to maintain production and delivery schedules.
- Know the capabilities and/or limitations of each assigned employee and assign work accordingly.
- Assure that all assigned welding shop employees know how to read and interpret shop fabrication sketches and blueprints.
- Oversee inspection and assure that quality is being maintained.
- Make certain that every project is fabricated and/or assembled correctly before releasing for shipment or installation.
- Ensure that all assigned projects and tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
- Assure that shop time and stock materials are being correctly charged for each project.
Equipment, Housekeeping and Maintenance
- Assure that all assigned employees know and understand the safe and proper operation of all fabrication equipment (rollers, piranha, overhead crane/hoist, etc.)
- Do not assign or allow any employee to use or operate any equipment unless they have been properly trained.
- Assure that all employee work areas are clean and free from debris daily.
- Ensure that all shop equipment is working properly and that scheduled maintenance is being performed as required.
- Enforce all proper PPE requirements while in the shop from every employee.
Shipping, Receiving & Inventory
- Organize and maintain adequate shop stock inventory.
- Receive and assign storage locations of incoming project materials
- Ensure that all receipts and shipping lists are promptly turned in.
- Assure that stock and received materials are stored and organized neatly and safely.
- Assure that shop floor and work areas are not cluttered.
Policy, Disciplinary, & Training
- Manage, oversee and evaluate all assigned welding shop personnel including their attitude, productivity, workmanship and quality.
- Immediately address any disciplinary or behavioral issues
- Ensure that all company safety policies and procedures are strictly followed.
- Ensure that assigned employees receive safety training as needed.
- Properly train and oversee mentoring of all new hires and inexperienced fabricators.
- Perform periodic evaluations to ensure that all assigned employees are performing their duties as required.
- Assure that all assigned personnel are not participating in excessive talk, gossip, spreading rumors or horseplay.
- Assure that all assigned employees are not roaming or out of their assigned work areas unless required.
- Assure that company cell phone usage policy is being strictly enforced.
- Assure that all assigned employees arrive at work on time, are in their work areas promptly and are not leaving their workstations no more than 5 minutes before quitting time.
- Assure that all assigned employees do not leave their work areas before scheduled times for lunch, or morning and afternoon breaks. Ensure that employees promptly return to work areas.
Daily Tasks
- Evaluate shop workload and request additional manpower or overtime if needed
- Maintain and update shop fabrication logs
- Before leaving the premises, ensure that:
- All employees have left the building
- Shop doors are locked and secured
- All hand and power tools are put away
- All machinery, fans and heaters are turned off
- Shop lights are off
- Security alarms/electronic beams are clear and alarm panel light is green
- Gates are closed and locked
- Ensure employee time is entered correctly each day in the timekeeping system, and ensure every shop employee is clocking in and out daily.
Skills & Requirements:
- 3-5 years’ experience as a sheet metal worker, welder, or fabricator, preferably in a leadership role
- Previous foreman experience a plus
- Requires the ability to use a phone and tablet to input data, such a timecard information, emails, etc.
- Bilingual (Spanish) a plus for this role

Working Environment: Work is typically performed while standing in a non-temperature-controlled shop.
Salary: Starting at $25/hour, but depends on experience
