What we want
The Research Technician under general supervision will support daily operations of the lab by maintaining the laboratory space, autoclaving items, assisting with experiments, managing student workers, and ordering supplies. The Research Technician will be responsible for the timely supply of media and the cleaning of scientific instruments.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years laboratory, research, or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in BSL-2 lab settings and previous experience in a technical role in a life science or physical science setting.
Bachelor’s degree Chemistry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Ability to clearly communicate both orally and in written form.
Ability to carefully follow written and verbal instructions.
Machines and Equipment including autoclave, trash compactor, biological safety cabinets, centrifuges, media clave / media jet, Bunsen burner.
Standard microbiology and molecular biology tools.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to comfortably lift, carry, push, and pull a maximum of 30lbs over short distances.
Must be able to sit and stand comfortably over prolonged periods of time.
Responsibilities
Research Technical Support
Preparation of liquid media, agar plates, and stock solutions.
Safe and aseptic handling of bacteria and tissue culture.
Proper maintenance of experimental notes and notebook.
Properly clean and disinfect laboratory instruments and reusable devices in a timely manner.
Monitoring of laboratory animals.
Proper use of autoclaves and other equipment.
Maintain laboratory, biosafety manual.
Handle and process laboratory waste safely and in observance with all EHS guidelines.
Handle EHS, Biosafety inspections.
Assembles, sets-up, and maintains laboratory equipment.
Research Procedure Support
Assist in the conduct of lab experiments as needed.
Data collection and archiving.
Assist undergraduate and graduate students with their research projects.
