About the job
Essential Functions
- Perform all functions of the mixing operator including measuring, mixing, sifting, and batch tracking, while following Company safety procedures as well as all Federal, State, and local regulations
- Handle hazardous chemicals. Be familiar with the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for each chemical handled and the hazards specific to that material and comply with all safety requirements
- Perform mixing and sifting processes to provide adequate material for multiple production lines
- Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and calibration of mixing equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with quality standards
- Monitor raw material inventory levels and communicate shortages or discrepancies to the appropriate personnel
- Assist in sampling and testing of mixed batches to ensure consistency and compliance with product specifications
- Work closely with Quality Assurance, Production, and Engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and improve processes
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner, including batch records, deviation reports, and cleaning logs
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute ideas to enhance safety, efficiency, and product quality
- Maintain accurate logs and follow batch tracking procedures
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- A solid foundation in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) is required and must be PC proficient to perform inventory and production data entry functions daily
- Ability to operate powered material handling equipment
- Ability to operate industrial mixing equipment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Must agree to complete all necessary safety and HAZMAT training and keep certifications up to date
- Responsible for being knowledgeable of and acting in strict accordance with the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations
- Must be comfortable wearing required PPE (including respirator, face mask, gloves, goggles, lab coat, booties, hairnet, beard net, or other required PPE) and agree to a respirator fit test
- General awareness of the CGMP guidelines and be willing to comply
- General awareness and knowledge of the ISO9001 Quality Management System requirements, company Quality Policy and your contributions to the effectiveness of the QMS
Preferred Qualifications
- Some college education preferred
- HAZMAT certifications
- Knowledge of chemical handling
- Background in chemistry, applied science, chemical technology
