DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*denotes essential functions):
*Under the guidance of higher-level Data Governance Office (DGO) staff, reviews, analyzes, tracks and processes requests regarding issues related to the Data Governance Process (DGP).
*Assists with the execution of Data Governance Program project initiatives, such as the implementation of systemwide mandatory training, data sharing, records retention, access to Institutional Data Systems.
*Provides administrative support for the Data Governance Program, acting as the initial point of contact for inquiries and assistance.
*Assists with the development and documentation of data governance policies, procedures, and guidelines and ensures compliance with federal, state, and other laws, rules, and regulations.
*Assists with providing guidance to requesters on data sharing and for access to Institutional Data Systems, reviews contract terms and conditions, works with third parties to resolve issues, and assesses risk to the university.
*Assists with creating, updating and maintaining data governance related forms and workflows.
*Assists with developing and managing the DGO’s website and dashboard, including providing new content to raise awareness on how to better secure and protect the University’s data.
*Assists with serving as a resource on FERPA and other data privacy regulations and data privacy best practices.
*Assists with preparation and dissemination of communications on data governance instructions and guidelines.
*Assists with planning and logistical support for meetings/convenings, training, and other events.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business, Social Sciences, Arts & Sciences, Liberal Arts, or related fields and 1 year of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for administrative support and/or program operations; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of data management as demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with data privacy and security such as FERPA, HIPAA, and GLBA.
Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of data management.
Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing and spreadsheet software.
Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, tact, patience, and discretion with others, both verbally and in writing, when providing guidance and instructions.
Ability to read and interpret various data management regulations and policies.
Demonstrated ability to speak, read, comprehend, interpret, and write fluently in English.
Demonstrated ability to learn, understand and apply various data governance issues and best practices in a timely manner using books, manuals, and other resources.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in a higher education environment.
Experience assisting with the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
Experience in research and analysis of various regulations, policies, and/or contract terms and conditions.
Familiarity with classifications and categories of data security related to higher education.
Some familiarity with maintaining web pages, form and workflow software and dashboards.
Experience with Kuali Build, Enterprise Dropbox, Enterprise Zoom, and Lamaku.
Working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience with Google applications such as Mail, Drive, etc.
