Situated in Downtown’s 2nd Street District, Austin Proper Hotel and Residences offers an artful immersion in lifestyle and wellbeing. Kappo Kappo is set to open at Austin Proper Hotel in October. This intimate, chef-driven project with focus on French and Japanese techniques. It will be rooted in conviviality and offer a highly personalized and immersive dining experience to the 25-seat restaurant. The culinary team brings international acclaim, and a philosophy rooted in discipline, creativity, and innovation.
The Attendant is a vital link between the culinary and service teams, helping deliver a seamless dining experience. This role ensures the restaurant stays impeccably clean and organized while supporting both back-of-house operations and guest-facing tasks. The Attendant is key to keeping the restaurant flowing smoothly, balancing speed, efficiency, and close coordination with the kitchen and service staff in a fast-paced kappo-style environment.
Responsibilities
- Wash, polish, and handle dishware, glassware, and tools with precision and care
- Assist with breakdown of dishwashing station, trash removal, and other end-of-shift duties as directed
- Assist with opening setup and station stocking
- Maintain stock and inventory of janitorial products and cleaning supplies
- Sweep floors and mop as needed to maintain a clean, safe environment
- Monitor and address spills or cleaning needs in FOH and BOH during service
- Uphold hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards at all times
- Prepare and replenish oshibori towels for guest use
- Restock supplies for bar, service stations, and kitchen during service as directed (runner support)
- Support overall service flow by assisting with clearing and resetting tables discreetly
Qualifications
- Minimum one (1) year of related experience in a restaurant, lounge, or hotel preferred
- Professional appearance and demeanor with composure in high-pressure situations
- Passion for providing exceptional guest service
- Active Food Handler’s Certificate
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and stand for extended periods
- Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be at least 18 and authorized to work in the United States
