POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

KKCS is seeking experienced Construction Inspectors to support Los Angeles World Airports’ (LAWA) civil construction inspection team as part of the Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division – Tenant Improvement Program. This role will focus on building disciplines and requires a candidate with strong technical knowledge, field inspection experience, and the ability to ensure compliance with all safety regulations, codes, and project specifications.

This is a field-based position that requires extensive walking throughout airport terminals and the ability to work flexible shifts (day, swing, modified, or night), including weekends.

This is a full-time, onsite position with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM

 

Essential Job Duties 

  • Conduct daily inspections of construction work across building and terminal projects to ensure compliance with codes, safety requirements, and project specifications.
  • Review and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Prepare clear and detailed daily inspection reports documenting progress, deficiencies, and safety concerns.
  • Verify contractor compliance with LA City Building Codes, ADA requirements, and LAWA standards.
  • Support special inspections and testing activities with engineers, contractors, and third-party agencies.
  • Track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities.
  • Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on approved schedules of values.
  • Perform inspections related to building construction, including but not limited to:
    1. Demolition, excavation, trenching, and shoring
    2. Concrete work, formwork, footings, and micro piles
    3. Sewer and storm drain installations
    4. Metal stud framing, drywall, ceilings, doors/hardware, and fire-rated components

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience performing construction inspection.
  • Strong knowledge of LA City Building Code and ADA requirements.
  • Ability to pass a background check and obtain a LAWA SIDA badge.
  • Physical ability to walk long distances, climb stairs, ladders, scaffolding, and crawl spaces.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.
  • Certifications/Training:
    1. Fall protection equipment training
    2. Confined space awareness certification
    3. Cal OSHA 30-hour training
    4. NFPA 70E certification (for electrical inspectors)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ICC certifications and/or Deputy Inspector Licenses.
  • Experience inspecting large-scale airport and public building facilities (steel/concrete structures, architectural finishes, building systems).
  • Proficiency with inspection/document control systems (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, Word, PM Web, Adobe Pro, Bluebeam).
  • Strong communication and time management skills.
