Job Summary
Ski Patrol members are responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of skiers and snowboarders on the mountain. They respond to emergencies, enforce safety regulations, and provide assistance and guidance to guests.
Duties and Responsibilities
Emergency Medical Response:

Provide first aid and emergency medical care to injured skiers and snowboarders.

Stabilize and transport injured individuals to appropriate facilities, such as a base clinic or hospital.

Perform search and rescue operations in the event of accidents or lost persons.
Safety Enforcement:

Monitor ski slopes and trails to ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations.

Inspect equipment, signage, and trail conditions to maintain safety standards.

Assist in crowd control and manage incidents to prevent accidents.
Customer Service:

Offer assistance and advice to guests regarding trail conditions, weather, and safety practices.

Provide education on skiing and snowboarding safety to enhance overall guest experience.

Handle customer complaints and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
Training and Drills:

Participate in regular training sessions and drills to stay current with first aid, CPR, and emergency procedures.

Keep skills updated in avalanche safety, rescue techniques, and mountain safety protocols.
Communication:

Coordinate with other patrol members, ski area management, and emergency services to ensure effective response to incidents.

Maintain clear and accurate records of incidents, injuries, and responses.
Maintenance and Equipment:

Check and maintain safety equipment, including toboggans, radios, and medical supplies.

Conduct routine inspections of ski trails and areas for potential hazards.
Position Levels:
- Patroller 1: Medical requirement is OEC with little to no training. Starting at $25/hour.
- Patroller 2: Medical requirement is OEC or greater with all basic patroller skills signed off (i.e. Toboggan handling, mtn knowledge, etc.), with progress or completion with training in avalanche mitigation, complex rope rescue, incident investigation, dog handling. Starting at $26/hour.
Qualifications
Skills and Qualifications

Medical Training: Certification in OEC, CPR, and EMT or paramedic certification is preferred.

Skiing/Snowboarding Skills: Proficient skiing or snowboarding ability is required, with experience handling challenging terrain and conditions.

Physical Fitness: Good physical condition to handle the demands of patrolling, including lifting and carrying injured individuals.

Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with guests, colleagues, and emergency services.

Problem-Solving: Ability to make quick decisions and manage stressful situations effectively.

Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with other patrol members and ski area staff.
Work Environment:

Outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including cold, snow, and wind.

Irregular hours, including weekends, holidays, and possibly night shifts.

Physically demanding tasks, including hiking, skiing/snowboarding, and lifting.
This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all guests on the mountain, and it requires a combination of medical expertise, outdoor skills, and a dedication to service.
