PURPOSE 

For many children, their first experience in our game is through participation in AFL Auskick, junior and school football programs. The core purpose of the Participation Coordinator position is to grow participation through the professional and consistent delivery of these core programs. Through best-in-class delivery, our Participation Coordinators ensure the highest-quality customer experience across all football and fan engagement programs.

This role is critical to driving participation in the Western Corridor of South-East Queensland (Ipswich and Springfield) and involves working closely with the Brisbane Lions to grow the game of AFL across the region.

This role will not only help us strengthen our current position but will also support the continued growth of our Auskick, Superkick & Schools programs and drive the transition into local community clubs.

Please note, employment in this position is subject to the successful candidate holding a Valid Working with Children Check (blue card) and a satisfactory criminal history record check.

 

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

  • Driving participation growth in the region, with a targeted approach to participant recruitment by delivering Auskick, Superkick and other AFL programs in Schools and Clubs.
  • Increasing the number of Auskick and Superkick centres across the region focused on building relationships with schools
  • Conduct promotional activities to meet participant targets e.g. school assemblies, clinics and other promotional activities
  • Ensure each program is delivered in line with the program curriculum and all participants can participate in a safe, friendly & fun environment
  • Implement transition and retention strategies from AFL Auskick, Superkick and school programs to junior club football
  • Deliver high quality school football competitions and programs
  • Liaise with and influence teachers, schools, and other program stakeholders
  • Organise AFL player visits and fan engagement opportunities
  • Working closely with Junior Community Clubs to build inclusive, sustainable environments and pathways including enhancing player recruitment, retention and transition
  • Leading by example with the input of data into our CRM – Salesforce
  • Contributing to key projects within and outside of core role and supporting and contributing to the success of the broader team

 

OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER 

  • Well-developed verbal and written communication, interpersonal, presentation skills
  • A fun and enthusiastic nature with a passion for working with children
  • Ability to work autonomously with strong organisation and planning skills 
  • Strong organisation and planning skills
  • Proven customer service skills, including negotiation abilities
  • Due to the nature of the sporting industry must be willing to work outside normal business hours from time to time, such as evenings and weekends
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to and engage diverse communities
  • Driver's license to travel across the region as needed
  • Demonstrated knowledge and interest in Australian Football
