Trees and Streetscapes Supervisor, Gardens Supervisor or Parks Supervisor
EMPLOYMENT TYPE:
Temporary Full Time - up to 4 years
THE POSITION:
Assist the Streetscapes and Gardens Team in the development and maintenance of parks, landscapes and gardens.
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under direction, assist in the following:
- Maintenance of the Albury parks, reserves and landscapes
- Construction of landscapes in the Albury City area
- Maintenance and planting of trees
- Provide advice to the public, visitors in a polite and effective manner.
- Use all plant and equipment in a safe and competent manner.
- Ensure all routine maintenance to plant and equipment used is completed.
- Use relevant skills to assist other areas within the City Landscapes Service Cluster.
- Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Supervisor, which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
- Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.
- Observe appropriate AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding day-to-day operations including Equal Employment Opportunity policies, AlburyCity's Dress Code and Standards Policy and AlburyCity's Code of Conduct.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Based on a 38 hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday, 7.00am to 4.00pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines. These times may vary due to operational requirements and will be determined by the supervisor.
- This position requires enrolment and study towards a Certificate III in Parks and Gardens or equivalent as part of an AlburyCity Apprenticeship. Enrolment will be organised by the Our People Team. The study component of the course will be primarily completed outside standard working hours of the position.
- This position is for a temporary period of 4 years.
- This position is a formal Apprenticeship and is regulated by the Apprenticeship & Traineeship Act 2001. Applicants with equivalent industry qualifications are ineligible to apply. For further information, please contact the Our People Team on 02 6023 8700.
- In line with the provisions of the Local Government (State) Award, this position will receive the Level 1, Adverse Working Conditions Allowance.
- This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
- This position involves working a predominantly outdoor environment where a varying range of temperatures, weather conditions and walking surfaces may be experienced. A high level of physical activity will also be required in order to undertake the role. The use of relevant work method statements and appropriate WHS standards are an integral part of the role. A full functional and medical assessment will be carried out for this position.
- This position will be provided with vaccination against the following infectious diseases:
- Hepatitis A
- Hepatitis B
- This position is subject to alcohol and other drug testing
- This position is subject to preemployment and ongoing audiometric (hearing) assessment in accordance with AlburyCity Procedures
- This position is located at the Landscape Services Depot, Smollet Street, Albury, with frequent visits to external sites/depots as required.
ALBURYCITY APPRENTICESHIP CRITERIA:
To be considered eligible for this position:
- An applicant must not have 50% or more of the identified qualification or a similar or a higher industry qualification completed.
- The recruitment of an AlburyCity Apprentice is based on the assumption of no/limited industry skills or knowledge and is not based on age.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Minimum completion of Year 10
- Class C (standard) Driver's Licence or Provisional Licence or Learner Licence (Compulsory to have and maintain)
SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Basic knowledge in the use of horticultural tools and equipment
- A general interest in parks and gardens and horticulture
- Understanding of safe work practices
- Fundamental literacy skills in receiving and executing instructions
