Skills and Competencies

  • 7-10+ years of professional experience in Python and Java in enterprise environments.
  • Advanced expertise in SQL (Postgres, Redshift), including schema design and optimization.
  • Proven success building multi-threaded, distributed systems at scale.
  • Strong experience designing cloud-native applications on AWS (Glue, Redshift, Lambda, Aurora Postgres, S3, EKS).
  • Proficiency with streaming frameworks (Kafka, Flink, Spark).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing.
  • Ability to mentor peers and influence technical direction while remaining a hands-on contributor.
  • Basic understanding of artificial intelligence concepts, with curiosity and enthusiasm for learning how AI tools can be used to improve processes and drive efficiency.
  • Interest in exploring AI systems and a willingness to develop awareness of responsible AI practices, including risk management and ethical use.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Synopsis: Design and deliver high-performance Python/Java data systems on AWS with a hands-on coding focus.

 

  • Develop and optimize multi-threaded, distributed applications in Python and Java.
  • Architect and improve microservices and event-driven platforms on AWS.
  • Own and optimize SQL schemas and queries for large datasets.
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, and engineering teams to align solutions.
  • Maintain standards in code quality, documentation, and CI/CD practices.
  • Implement metadata-driven rule engines, validation frameworks, and governance models.

Our Data Validation team is responsible for ensuring global financial data meets Moody’s high standards of quality and reliability.

 

  • We deliver cloud-native platforms that validate millions of records daily
  • We implement metadata-driven rule engines to enforce data governance.
  • By joining our team, you’ll influence the architecture and technical strategy of Moody’s data estate while coding hands-on solutions.

 

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $116,500.00 - $169,000.00, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody’s also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
