Oil States is currently looking for qualified candidates for the position of Logistics Specialist in Houma, Louisiana.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Professional who manages the domestic and international shipments of goods.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Negotiate and manage domestic and international carrier contracts
  • Manage all export compliance activities including screening and auditing for compliance with BIS/EAR, DOD/ITAR, OFAC regulations including deemed exports
  • Determine correct ECCN and HTS classifications
  • Manage all import compliance activities ensuring accuracy in Customs reporting.
  • Manage customs brokers, freight forwarders, and carriers
  • Oversee the preparation of waybills, ensure compliance with letters of credit, ensure cargo insurance meets requirements
  • Work directly with Quality and Shipping Departments to ensure all orders are shipped in accordance with contractual terms and conditions
  • Manage/coordinate intercompany international shipments, ensuring on-time deliveries
  • Arrange and assist with crating, packing, and loading containers and equipment.
  • Expedite, trace and obtain proof of delivery as required
  • Monitor and report the performance of carriers, craters and forwarders as well as lower overall costs of transportation
  • Process invoices for carriers, craters and forwarders
  • Maintain shipping records and audit freight bills
  • Ensure compliance with current HAZMAT and DOTD regulations
  • Follow all shipments in transit to assure on time delivery or delays.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • High school graduate, college degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years experience in domestic and international transportation
  • Thorough knowledge of preparing and maintaining accurate and complete shipping documentation including purchase orders, packing lists, commercial invoices, NAFTA certificates, customs documentation, sales contracts, inspection certificates, bills of lading
  • Thorough knowledge of INCO Terms 2020
  • Basic computer skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, Email, etc.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good people skills and able to work well with other co-workers, vendors and customers
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a competing priority setting
  • Remain up to date on tariffs world wide.
