Machinist II
REPORTS TO:
Production Supervisor
SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
The Machinist II must be capable of setting up and machining parts using fixtures and/or CNC machining centers by following the written directions provided as part of the job. At times, may work with a Molding Technician to increase the throughput of the equipment. Responsible to direct the activities of the Molding Helper and ensure that they follow job requirements. The Machinist II will also be able to run any job that has been set up previously and can run most equipment in the tool manufacturing and maintenance area when set up by a more senior machinist. This job involves machining parts per specification by setting up and operating machine shop equipment. The Machinist II is responsible for the quality of the product by performing both in-process and final part inspections, care and maintenance of the equipment, assuring tooling and materials readiness, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

MAJOR DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:
- With limited supervision, performs intermediate-level machining of parts and tools
- Sets up and operates all available machine tools and performs progressive machining operations on work involving close tolerances
- Understands qualities of metals and alloys and applies that knowledge to parts being machined
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard measuring tools
- Understands and comprehends all forms of technical documents including blueprints and drawings, written specifications, charts, tables, etc
- Skillfully uses all machinist hand tools and measuring instruments
- Sets up and lays out own work from blueprints, sketches, and written specifications according to requirements
- Maintains a track record of high-quality work with low rework and scrap history
- Maintains high efficiencies and run rates for given machine
- Works safely and as part of a high-performing team
- Responsible for the completeness and accuracy of all work
- Perform other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years related experience, training, licenses/certification, or demonstrated ability to perform described position responsibilities
- Candidate must have 3+ years experience on 3 Axis CNC machines, 4 and 5 Axis a plus
- Fundamental understanding of GD&T
- Ability to set up and operate computer-controlled equipment
- Able to work and communicate as a member of a team
- Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbal) in English
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions for machine operation
- Must have strong math skills and basic computer skills
- Must be able to use a caliper and micrometer for detailed part in-process measurements
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail
- Mechanically inclined, with good manual dexterity
- Team player with a can-do attitude
- Maintain work areas in a neat, orderly, and safe manner
- Ability to read and interpret production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Experience in following written set-up instructions and/or performing unique set-ups
- Demonstrated ability to resolve unforeseen, unique issues as they arise in machining parts with limited supervision
- Experience in complex measurements and advanced shop math calculations relative to tolerances, dimensions, tooling, feeds, and speeds
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent attendance; ability to work overtime, weekends, and off shifts when needed
- Able to work in a standing position for extended time periods
- Able to lift or move up to 50 lbs.; pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs.

- SALARY RANGE: $25.00 - $41.00 DOE
