A Day in the Life:
As a Specialty Grain Operations Specialist you will work the day-to-day operations for our grain division and A-Maize-Ing Company at the Sherman, TX specialty grain facility. Your primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to; load and unload trucks and trains, operate company equipment for transferring grain, assist with the logistics of receiving train loads, monitor and maintain grain quality in accordance with regulations and company policies, conduct and help manage inventory, assist with the operation of the scale to weigh products, and perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment and vehicles. Your additional tasks will include grain handling, housekeeping, and maintenance duties to keep our bins running, including sweeping out grain bins. You will also prepare all required paperwork for DOT, OSHA, Farmers Cooperative, A-Maize-Ing Company, and delivery end-user markets. You will work closely with grain division staff to meet specialty grain operations needs and implement necessary policies. You will operate company vehicles, forklifts, augers, front-end loaders, and various other types of equipment.

What’s Expected:

This is primarily a hands-on position where you will be working outside in all kinds of weather, along with occasional administrative responsibilities. You will be expected to learn and understand all aspects of grain elevator operations at your facility, including all types of grain handling equipment and existing storage. You will be expected to help where needed and may be asked to obtain a Class A CDL to serve as a backup in delivering product with a pneumatic trailer and semi. You will be exposed to grain dust, lubricants, and other agricultural products. Physically, you will stand, stoop, bend, kneel, and crawl on a regular basis. You will be asked to climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and work at heights up to 200ft. Regularly lifting 50 pounds and occasionally 100 pounds will be expected. You will be expected to think clearly, problem solve, work hard, and work more hours during busy seasons. Farmers Cooperative operates under the “all hands-on deck” philosophy when it comes to getting things done. Therefore, employees are required to perform all other duties as directed by the supervisor.
 

What’s Required:

  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Busy seasons will require more hours to service our customers and to unload/load product on trains

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior grain elevator operations, millwright, or equipment operations experience
  • Class A CDL depending on truck (ability to obtain and willing to train right individual)
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • Quality customer service skills
  • Basic technology skills
  • Basic mathematical skills
  • The desire to work for an agricultural cooperative
