Since its founding in 2004, Communities In Schools of Nevada has been driven by the belief that every child has unlimited potential but may not have access to equal opportunities to succeed. Our three regional affiliates work across four rural and urban school districts to provide over 99,999Nevada students at 110 high poverty schools a one-on-one relationship with a caring adult and a safe place to learn and grow to break down whatever barriers may exist in their lives. With more than 120 + community partners, we coordinate resources and services — literally bringing Community into our Schools — to do whatever it takes in supporting the students we serve. CIS of Nevada is one of 29 state offices in a national network with 48 years of experience implementing our evidence-based solution for 1.7 million students. In 2023-2024, CIS of Nevada case managed students celebrated a K-12 promotion rate of 99% and our statewide high school graduation rate of 97%.

Job Purpose/Summary                                                                                                              

The purpose of the Data Manager position is to oversee the local implementation and monitoring of the data collection requirements set forth by the National CIS Office. This includes maintaining an active knowledge of the database and National data requirements, providing training and support to local staff, collaborating with Programs teams to ensure data-driven decision-making, updating documentation and training material, providing training as needed, monitoring the data collection, management and verification efforts to ensure all standards are met at the highest quality, and assisting Director of Data and Evaluation in overseeing affiliate assets and various administrative functions.  This position also includes collaboration with the statewide data team to ensure standardization and implementation of best practices surrounding data collection, correction, reporting & analysis .

 Duties and Responsibilities  CISDM Implementation, Ongoing Data Collection, Training & Management

  • Act as CISDM database administrator liaison with the oversight of affiliate Director of Data and Evaluation, providing guidance, training, troubleshooting and technical support.
  • Oversee the facilitation of data training in alignment with statewide standards for all Site Coordinators, Program Managers/Directors, and interns in assigned affiliate.
  • Support Data Specialist(s) in providing one-on-one or group data support as needed or requested.
  • Develop additional/alternate measurement tools as needed or assigned. These may include but are not limited to standards documents, assessments, forms, and tracking systems.
  • Assist affiliate Director of Data and Evaluation in analyzing trends in data reporting to provide support and training to Site Coordinators to ensure the model is implemented with effectiveness and fidelity.
  • Assist affiliate Director of Data and Evaluation in providing guidance and oversight to all assigned Programs and Leadership teams to ensure the individual affiliate’s data and evaluation goals are met.
  • Report  data back to Site Coordinators and Programs staff on a regularly scheduled basis in coordination with the State Data team to enhance data culture and monitoring & adjusting of school and student supports.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Data and Evaluation and CISN State Office to streamline efficiencies as it pertains to capturing and reporting on data.
  • Cross-train with Programs and Site Coordinators to ensure up-to-date knowledge of affiliate procedures and duties and inform collaboration between Programs and Data departments.

Standards & Reporting

  • Manage completion of all required statewide reporting requirements based on specified timeline and adherence to reporting standards.
  • Ensure implementation and adherence to statewide data standards in assigned affiliate.
  • Lead assigned affiliate’s requirement to accurately complete and report on quarterly monitoring and adjusting.
  • Assist affiliate Director of Data and Evaluation in completing EOY reporting according to National Standards.
  • Serve as affiliate tactical team lead, as assigned, for special initiative management, collaborate to develop new data entry and reporting requirements for grants and special initiatives in collaboration with State Data team.
  • Assist affiliate Director of Data and Evaluation in monitoring overall Accreditation performance to ensure compliance with National Standards.
  • Research and implement best practices around data metrics including attendance, academic performance, social-emotional learning, and behavior interventions.

Statewide Data Team Participation & Administrative Duties

  • Provide oversight to affiliate data by supervising a team of Data Specialist(s) to ensure the affiliates data goals are met in collaboration with management teams. Provide regular check-ins with data specialists to monitor and support high performance.
  • Participate in new processes and systems as they are identified and assigned to Data Team for collaboration and management.
  • Attend all National meetings/trainings/etc. around data collection and reporting as needed.
  • Act as secondary data liaison between assigned affiliate, the State Data, Grants and Programs Departments and other Nevada affiliates.
  • Work with the state team to streamline efficiencies as it pertains to capturing and reporting on data.
  • Regularly collaborate with Programs department to ensure ongoing use of data in decision- making surrounding supporting staff members and monitoring and adjusting supports.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 Qualifications and Competencies

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience. Experience in Information Technology or Data Science a plus.
  • Previous experience supervising a team preferred.
  • Customer service and solutions-focused approach to supporting staff.
  • High level of interpersonal and communications skills, attention to detail a must.
  • Advance knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational, coordination, administrative and problem-solving skills.
  • Sensitivity to and interest in needs of youth.
  • 2+ years of experience with data analysis/management a plus.
  • Experience with education databases a plus.

 Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Work environment is indoors and climate controlled. Maybe exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Moderate noise levels as found in a business office and classroom setting.
  • Use of own automobile.
  • Travel required to and from school sites. 
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug testing.
