Job Responsibilities
- Assist with daily living skills (e.g. lifting, transferring, toileting, bathing, personal hygiene, meals, dressing, social activities, etc.)
- Promote appropriate community integration and social interaction
- Assisting in the implementation of outcomes and goals developed in the Individual Plan (IP)
- Complete paperwork as assigned including documentation (e.g. monthly progress notes, community integration logs, incident reports, etc.)
- Attend all meetings, in-service training, and monthly supervisions as required by supervisor
- Work cooperatively with professional and paraprofessional staff in the best interest of the supported individual
- Work cooperatively with the individual’s family members and caregivers
- Assist with the individual’s recreational, cultural and vacation plans of his/her choice
- Ensure that the individual assigned has interaction opportunities with peers who are not disabled
- Ensure receipts and back-up documentation for any monetary responsibilities
- Demonstrate proper use of the agency approved time keeping KRONOS (for Arc employees)
- Complete all agency required trainings for position
- Maintain knowledge of emergency procedures as specified by The Arc Baltimore
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
Required:
- Must be at least 20 years of age
- Must be able to work independently
- Must have own and use personal vehicle
- Valid driver’s license (not provisional) with a clean driving record
- Must be able to transport people supported as needed
Preferred:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Related experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required
- Intermediate computer skills required
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills necessary
Working Conditions
- Individual will work in a culturally diverse and stimulating environment; Individual must enjoy working in the community
- May be required to lift /assist in transferring individuals, as needed
