Schedule: Hours can vary from 6am-10pm Monday-Friday with occasional weekend and holiday work depending on organizational needs.
Position Overview:
Children’s Home Society of South Dakota is seeking a Part Time Cook/Housekeeper to work as part of a team to help in preparing meals and snacks for students and staff, as well as assisting with the cleaning and maintenance of designated facility areas. What You Will Do:
(Cook):
- Food Preparation: Fulfill menu requirements and serve meals.
- Cleaning Duties: Wash pots and pans, trays, dishes, etc. Take out kitchen trash to outside trash bins.
- Food Storage: Cover, label and date all suitable leftovers for storage.
- Cleanliness: Maintain personal cleanliness, as well as cleanliness of the kitchen and storage areas.
- Compliance: Take and record food temperatures at mealtime. Take and record refrigerator, freezer and dishwashing machine temperatures.
- Professional Development: Attend team meetings as required. Participate in required in-service training.
(Housekeeping):
- Cleaning Duties: Clean assigned areas according to daily and weekly schedules. Launder linens and children’s clothes as assigned.
- Cleaning Storage: Maintain storage areas and cleaning supplies inventory
- Safety: Report needed repairs or safety hazards immediately to supervisor.
- Team Collaboration: Attend assigned meetings.
- Professional Development: Participate in required in-service training. Participate in quality improvement activities as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school degree or GED required.
- Some experience in quantity food production/housekeeping preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Requires standing for extended periods of time. Exposure to tools, utensils, equipment, and cleaning chemicals, requiring attentive and safe utilization.
