Job/Position Summary

The Quality Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the quality assurance and control processes within Fathom. This involves ensuring that all products and processes meet quality standards throughout the manufacturing lifecycle, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining compliance with regulations and industry standards. Working across multiple manufacturing sites, the Quality Director accomplishes these responsibilities by working along with the Quality representatives at each manufacturing location.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement proactive QA processes focused on ensuring quality in the processes used to create a product. It aims to prevent defects by improving the development and testing processes (Key process: Additive, CNC, Sheetmetal and Injection molding).
    • Process-oriented: Ensures that the processes used to manage and create deliverables are adequate and followed correctly.
    • Develop quality standards and procedures: Establish guidelines for design, development, testing, and deployment.
    • Conduct audits and process evaluations: Review internal procedures and adherence to standards.
    • Training and process improvement: Train teams on best practices and continuously improve processes.
    • Documentation control: Maintain proper documentation to ensure consistency and repeatability.
    • Risk management: Identify areas of risk in the process and mitigate them early.
  • Oversees site QC processes.  A reactive process focused on identifying defects in the final product. It ensures that the actual product meets the required quality standards.
    • Product-oriented: Focus on identifying defects in the final deliverables.
    • Testing: Perform functional, non-functional, regression, performance, and other types of testing.
    • Inspection: Examine deliverables against defined acceptance criteria.
    • Defect tracking and reporting: Detect, report, and verify the resolution of defects.
    • Validation: Ensure that the product meets business needs and requirements.
    • Measurement and analysis: Use metrics to evaluate product quality and testing effectiveness.
  • Ensure manufacturing operations adhere to relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
  • Review complex quote packages to ensure that all relevant aspects of the quotation, including quality standards, are met and aligned with our strategic goals.
  • Work with engineering, production, and other departments to ensure that quality standards are met throughout the entire manufacturing process. 
  • Develop and conducts companywide training programs on quality control practices.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control or quality assurance in a manufacturing field, including experience in a managerial or director role.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining quality management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of industry regulations and standards (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016, AS9100:2016, ITAR).
  • Demonstrated ability leading cross-functional teams to ensure processes and products meet all customer requirements.
  • Hands-on approach to Quality, willing and able to assist the local Quality and Operations teams
