Under the supervision of the Director of Access & Provider Partnerships and in collaboration with the Medical Director of Palliative Care Services, this position is responsible for improved efficiency for the Palliative Services Department by managing providers’ calendars, correspondence, screening calls, responding to patients and families inquires. Serve as the primary contact for referring providers and insurance agencies. Prioritize projects and meet stringent deadlines. Maintain consistent productivity in a fast-paced environment, maintains records, maintains an accurate patient census, interprets data, and prepares detailed reports of a technical nature.
Qualifications
• Minimum of one year clinical training in a healthcare environment preferred.
• Minimum of two years training or equivalent work experience in administrative services.
• Must possess advanced proficiency Microsoft Office including, but not limited to other software knowledge.
• Medical coding knowledge is preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills including excellent verbal and writing abilities.
• Knowledge of the palliative care concept for patients with serious illness.
• Attendance is a condition of employment.
Key Result Areas
• Responsible for the support services, which includes communicating with insurers and pharmacies to expedite patient care for the Palliative Services team including Physicians and APRNs.
• Manages daily operations and coordinates the work activities and schedules of the Palliative Care Department.
• Skilled in extracting and compiling technical data; report format for spreadsheets, graphs, slides, and statistical reports.
• Arranges, participates in and implements, as directed, conferences and committee meetings.
• Maintains high quality standards, accuracy and completeness regardless of workload. Must possess a sense of urgency.
• Ability to manage stressful situations and is able to remain calm in the midst of difficult circumstances.
• Uses systematic, step-by-step approach to problem solving.
• Communicates with the Billing Department to ensure monthly deadlines are met.
• Works as a team member in the capacity of patients and families educating on palliative care
• Maintain a high level of urgency, customer consciousness and service excellence.
• Participate as an active supporter of the Treasure Health compliance program, including an emphasis to report, as well as complying with all Federal, State and Local laws as well as the organization’s compliance program.

Position will be categorized as category III (involves no routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids/tissues).
Working Conditions
• Typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling.
• Sedentary – Exerting up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria met.
• The work is required to have close visual acuity such as/preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Incumbent may be required to perform emergency duty before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency, crisis situation or disaster (man-made or natural) including evacuation sites. The person in the position will work in a smoke-free location and is expected to adhere to all smoking restrictions.
