H2O Innovation is seeking certified level 1 or 2 Water & Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators in the Calgary & Kananaskis Region facilities. Your care and attention to detail will ensure that all visitors have a pleasant visit in the Park.H2O Innovation is known for its state-of-the-art water and wastewater treatment systems as well as providing water and wastewater plant operations and maintenance management support across North America.

The Day-to-Day
Reporting to the Operations Lead and Project Manager, the Water & Wastewater Plant Operator will be responsible for: A minimum of 15 hours per week which may lead to full time in the near future.
- Ensure safe, compliant, and consistent operation of all water and wastewater treatment plants;
- Operation and maintenance of the treatment plants, sludge processing systems, and pumping stations according to related Government standards;
- Conduct regular inspections of the collection and distribution systems as well as the plants;
- Creation and initiation of work orders for operational servicing and repairs;
- Preparation and delivery of activity and work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance;
- Ordering of goods and equipment, and maintain inventory;
- Submission of Reports to government agencies, departments, and other organizations as required;
- Ability to communicate effectively with other personnel and supervisors;
- Provide guidance and support to plant team members;
- Maintain and execute training for operations personnel to develop required knowledge and skills;
- Communicate with the operators, client and management on issues that may potentially affect the treatment process, compliance or public health;
- Support water and wastewater treatment projects. Support with the development of project plans, SOP’s, justify and execute project requests;
- Support and maintain positive operator and customer relationships and communications;
- Ensure strategic market development and growth;
- Other duties as assigned.
The Skills We Are Looking for
- A minimum of Level 1 in Water and Wastewater Treatment disciplines is desired; OIT will be considered
- Experience operating and maintaining Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants and related equipment required;
- Must be flexible and demonstrate a dedication to the position and to public services;
- Computer literate with ability to use Microsoft Word, and Excel;
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License required;
- Must be able to perform on-call support services on rotation
- Excellent and professional oral and written communication skills.
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
- Walking & Standing: 4-8 hr/day;
- Bending & Reaching: 4-8 hr/day;
- Pushing & pulling: 4-8 hr/day;
- Driving 4-6 hr/day;
- Physical Effort: does not lift weights more than 100 lbs;
- Environmental Stress: busy atmosphere, working inside and outside.
Work Environment:
- Work is performed indoors and outdoors in often harsh weather conditions.
