JOB DESCRIPTION:

Since 1966, the Capitol Region Education Council (CREC) has been dedicated to providing innovative, high-quality, and cost-effective educational programs and services to meet the diverse needs of children and adults in Greater Hartford. Serving 33 member districts and reaching additional communities statewide, CREC supports approximately 12,000 students annually through more than 120 educational programs. Our offerings include professional learning and coaching for educators, specialized programming for students with diverse needs, and PreK-12 education across 16 interdistrict magnet schools. Additionally, CREC provides school construction, operations, and cooperative business services, while also delivering programs that help adults build real, job-ready skills.

Position Title:	Family and Community Engagement Liaison/Facilitator for BMALE Program (11 Month -Full Time)
Classification:	Support Staff
Reports To:	Building Principal
Effective Date:	August 2025

POSITION SUMMARY:

The purpose of this posting is to create a pool of talented employees for the 2025-26 School Year. CREC seeks talented committed personnel at our various magnet schools. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

Family and Community Engagement Liaisons/Facilitators work under the general supervision of their school principal performing the essential performance responsibilities listed below.

Duties/Responsibilities

Facilitate and participate in workshops/meetings/community events for the purpose of receiving and or presenting information.

Attend Attendance Committee Meetings, Recruitment Fairs for Middle and High Schools, and other events that impact B-Males program

Facilitation of evening meetings and activities which will require individual to accommodate a flexible schedule

Building connections and relationships with participants of the B-MALES program, families of the B-MALES participants

Initiate and Engage with community partners.

Staying in contact with the participants and parents of the participants via phone, text and visitation

Respond to inquiries from a variety of sources (parents, community agencies, students, teachers) for the purpose of providing information and or direction.

Assist in organizing parent committees/family meetings/educational classes for program participants.

Collaborate with school staff to support families from diverse backgrounds (including non-English speaking families).

Assist in recruiting parents as volunteers within the school for the purpose of increasing parent participation in school activities and in their child's education.

Provide documented updates for the purpose of grant reporting.

Disseminate information to administration and staff of school

Assist in organizing or decision making regarding fundraising opportunities to benefit the student and family school community.

Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Degree in human services, education, or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Job related experience with similar levels of responsibility.
Experience working with diverse population.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Use computer network system and software applications as needed.
Effective communication with all members of the school community including families and colleagues.
Organize and coordinate work independently and collaboratively with colleagues and partners.
Establish and maintain working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:

Works in standard office and school building environments, as well as through field experiences in the community.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide transportation to meetings, trainings, and professional learning opportunities as required. Travels by foot, city bus, or other means to participate in field experiences in the community with students and staff; home visits to families as needed

Working in a school environment demands prolonged standing/movement, frequent bending and crouching, lifting and carrying materials, fine motor skills for manipulating small objects, clear speaking voice, good vision and hearing, the ability to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously, and sometimes the need to move quickly to respond to student needs. Successful staff require the ability to work in a high energy environment with varying noise levels (from quiet to loud) based on student activity. Staff are expected to work both indoors and outdoors (as needed) and may be expected to participate in off-site field experiences.
