Job Title: Educational Assistant Days/Status: Nonexempt, 187 Days
Department/School: Middle School Campus Pay Grade: IS203
Reports to: Bilingual Services Department HR Date Approved: 8/2025
Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose is to assist the campuses and classroom teachers in providing support for Emergent Bilingual students and other responsibilities as assigned. This position will work primarily with middle school students.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 48+ college credit, Associate's degree or higher, or an approved state/local academic assessment
- Fluent in the Spanish language, and ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form
- Certification in ESL and previous experience in an educational environment preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Education Aide Certificate is required, but may be applied for once employed.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work with English Learners to support their language development and acquisition.
- Prepare small group or individual lessons for Emergent bilingual students based on direction from classroom teacher or campus administrator.
- Provide feedback to students on their progress.
- Help maintain an orderly classroom.
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher and work with individual students or small groups.
- Assist in supervision of students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom.
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in department meetings and special events as assigned.
- Able to maintain confidential information
- Perform other related duties as assigned
