Paraprofessional - Full-Time w/Benefits - 2024-2025 School Year chez Edward B Cole Academy

General Description of the Position: Our Paraprofessionals offer 1:1 support for Students with Special Needs. Paraprofessionals complement our teachers in the classroom to best support our Students with Special Needs as we work toward their specific goals. Under the direction of the Director of Special Education, the Paraprofessional will provide targeted and intentional support inside and outside the classroom. The ideal candidate will have experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or be familiar with behavior management strategies typically used by Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT), though certification is not required. This role will involve providing direct support to help the student succeed academically and behaviorally.

Qualifications: • High School Diploma or Equivalent • Experience working with children with special needs, including behavioral challenges. • Bilingual in Spanish Preferred (read and write) • CPR and First Aid Certified (before the first day of work) • TB and DOJ Clearance (before the first day of work) • Ability to demonstrate an understanding, patient and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups • Effective communication skills in oral and written form in English • Ability to perform routine clerical tasks and operate a variety of educational and office-related machines and equipment • Willing to learn to utilize a variety of appropriate instructional materials and procedures in the enhancement of a positive educational environment • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children and adults • Sensitivity to the needs of young children Familiarity with ABA strategies or RBT practices is preferred (certification not required). Ability to follow behavior intervention plans and adjust strategies based on student needs. Patience, empathy, and a calm demeanor in challenging situations.

Varies $18.00-$24.00 per hour Medical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance included

Full-time, Monday to Friday during school hours. Edward B. Cole Sr. Academy is located in the heart of Santa Ana at 333 E. Walnut.
