Varsity Girls Basketball Coach

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Carrollton High School is looking for a dedicated and passionate Varsity Girls Basketball Head Coach for the 2025–2026 school year. The Basketball Coach is responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing all aspects of the district’s basketball program. The coach will provide student-athletes with a positive and meaningful experience by promoting athletic skill development, academic achievement, leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship. This position requires the ability to mentor and supervise staff, create and implement program development plans, and build strong relationships with students, families, and the community. The coach will also organize fundraising activities and fulfill basketball-related responsibilities throughout the year as assigned by the Athletic Director. Applicants must have a minimum of three years of high school coaching experience. This is a coaching-only position with no accompanying teaching role. COMPENSATION: The Varsity Basketball Coach will be paid in accordance with the CEA contract “Appendix B”.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide each student-athlete with a positive, meaningful experience through participation in the program.
Provide student-athletes with a positive, meaningful experience that supports athletic, academic, and personal growth.
Model, demonstrate, and foster leadership, teamwork, and sportsmanship on and off the court.
Create, coordinate, and implement game strategies, practice plans, and skill development sessions.
Teach basketball fundamentals, including basic skills, techniques, and execution.
Develop and implement a comprehensive program plan, ensuring alignment from middle school through high school levels.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant and sub-level coaches to ensure consistency across the program.
Organize and oversee program-related fundraising activities and community engagement efforts.
Build and maintain positive relationships with student-athletes, families, school staff, and the surrounding community.
Carry out basketball-related responsibilities during the off-season or as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Maintain program compliance with district, league, and state athletic policies and procedures.
Responsible for organizing and overseeing fundraising activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
Passion for developing youth both athletically and holistically.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
Prior experience participating in or coaching basketball at the high school and/or college level.
Must receive a satisfactory response to 4205-F Authorization for Release of Information and Employee History Check Under 1996 PA 189 of 1996; MCL 380.1230b
