Description
Stephenson Equipment, Inc (SEI), an industry leader in Pennsylvania, Maryland, VA and New York providing sales, rentals, parts and service for construction equipment, cranes, paving, road building and road maintenance equipment, has an immediate need for Service Manager at our Ephrata, PA location.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Supervise in-shop service and repair of machines and equipment
- Ensure new and used equipment are prepared properly
- Provide direction and leadership required to achieve professional technical services at profitability and quality standards
- Oversee field service and repair of machines and equipment
- Data entry of technician work hours into business system
- Repair work order management and closing within business system
- Payroll entry and submission for all service department staff
- Creation and management of individual technician training plans
- Organization and scheduling of technician training classes
- Manage shop and yard maintenance and repairs, housekeeping and security
- Develop and maintain labor sales and expense budgets
- Forecast capital expenditures to maintain various departments and assist in improvements
- Develop service objectives
- Professional development of departmental employees
- Conduct service meetings and training sessions to communicate company objectives and policies, to develop technical skills and to encourage employee participation and personal growth.
- Continually monitor the progress of the department, and that of individuals in the service group, toward the quality and profit goals.
- Conducts meetings with the service group to discuss performance, standards and goals
- Perform various administrative duties
- Comply with all safety procedures
- Prospect, develop and maintain relationships with OEM’s and customer base
- Conduct in-person visits with customers at business locations and field project sites

Requirements
The best fit to our team will have:
- Two-year Associates Degree from college or technical school in Heavy Equipment repair (or 5 years of relevant experience or training) and 2 years of management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Combination of office and shop environment. Moderate to loud noise levels. Work requires a combination of sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, as well as standing and walking. Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching as necessary to assist with equipment troubleshooting. Frequent lifting, up to 25lbs
