Description

Position Summary:

IDB Global Federal Credit Union is undertaking a significant multi-platform transformation, including the upgrade of our core banking system, digital banking platform, and card processing services over the next few years. We are seeking a Strategic Conversion Program Manager to lead this critical initiative and ensure a seamless, secure, and member-focused transition.

The ideal candidate will be a project manager with extensive experience managing enterprise-level technology conversions within the credit union or financial services industry. A strong understanding of information security, credit union vendors and systems, and cross-functional coordination is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, execution, and oversight of the 2027 enterprise conversion program (possibly including but not limited to core software, digital banking, and card management), including timeline development, budgeting, risk mitigation, and resource allocation for all three system conversions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison among internal stakeholders, conversion teams, vendor partners, and executive leadership throughout the lifecycle of the program.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive program artifacts: project plans, issue/risk logs, communications frameworks, data mapping, test and migration schedules, and training.
  • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating data mapping and testing.
  • Ensure that all systems migrations meet information security, compliance, and business continuity standards.
  • Proactively manage risk, interdependence between systems, and competing priorities across the different conversion tracks.
  • Coordinate the timing of member communication to minimize disruption and maximize adoption.
  • Deliver timely progress reporting and facilitate decision-making, including proactively tracking and reporting conversion issues, with senior management and project governance groups.
  • Drive change management strategies, operational improvements/efficiencies, internal readiness, and staff training to support a smooth organizational transition.
  • Champion a balanced member-first approach coupled with enhancing operational efficiencies in all technical and operational decisions.

Post-Conversion Opportunities:

Following the successful implementation of the conversion projects, this role may continue to lead critical “Day 2” initiatives such as optimization efforts, system enhancements, or expanded member capabilities. The position may also evolve to assume other strategic or operational responsibilities within the Credit Union, aligned with organizational needs and the candidate’s skill set.

Requirements

Required:

  • 7+ years of project/program management experience, with 3+ years in credit union, banking, or fintech environments.
  • Demonstrated success in leading enterprise-level technology conversions—including at least one core system or digital banking platform. Ideally involving complex, multi-vendor ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of information security principles, vendor management, and regulatory standards (e.g., NCUA, FFIEC).
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong analytical skills

Preferred:

  • PMP or similar certification.
  • Experience with any of the following systems: Finastra, FIS, Candescent, Corelation, Alkami, Lumin, Velera, Visa, Mastercard.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Change management certification (e.g., Prosci) is a plus.
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Working Conditions:

  • Based in Washington, D.C., with hybrid flexibility.
  • Occasional travel and availability during conversion cutover periods (which may include evenings/weekends) is expected.
