Position Duties

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) delivers training and support for criminal and non-criminal justice agencies in the use of GCIC programs and both state and federal rules and regulations governing criminal justice information. This position is within the Training Unit. The incumbent under direct supervision, provides support to federal, state and local criminal justice agencies, private businesses and the general public relating to criminal justice information. Has responsibility for projects and assignments related to CJIS Programs. CJIS Programs may include Criminal History Record Information, Uniform Crime Reporting, Sex Offender Registry, Protection Order Registry, NCIC, CJIS network or other services provided by the Georgia Crime Information Center. Provides customer service support for the Learning Management System (LMS) including but not limited to answering phones, responding to emails, add, delete, modify and update training classes within the LMS, provide guidance and customer service to internal and external users to navigate through and use the LMS.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The incumbent will occasionally be required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel. Occasionally light lifting/or moving boxes or supplies may be required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires the incumbent to work in an office setting which includes shared office space with other professionals.

NOTE: This position may require some travel and operating a state vehicle. A valid Georgia driver’s license is required.

 



Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Criminal Justice IS Specialist1:($41,000.44)

High school diploma/GED AND One (1) year customer support experience (answering customer problems and inquiry calls; performing first level problem determination and resolution; provide information and services targeted at meeting customer expectations).

 Criminal Justice IS Specialist 2: ($43,050.46)

High school diploma/GED AND Two (2) years of experience in Customer Support (answering customer problems and inquiry calls; performing first level problem determination and resolution; provide information and services targeted to meet customer expectations); or Two (2) years of experience at the lower-level Criminal Justice IS Specialist 1 (ITT080) or position equivalent.

Criminal Justice IS Specialist 3: ($46,279.25)

High school diploma/GED AND Three (3) years of experience in Customer Support (answering customer problems and inquiry calls; performing first level problem determination and resolution; provide information and services targeted to meet customer expectations) AND One (1) year of experience in creation of lesson plans or power point presentations; or Three (3) years of experience at the level Criminal Justice IS Specialist 2 (ITT081) or position equivalent. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants that possess one (1) year of experience in two (2) or more of the following:
  • Experience working in a Criminal Justice or Public Safety Environment 
  • Experience with the use of NCIC/GCIC applications and programs
  • Experience creatively developing, formatting and designing online courses
  • Experience creating presentations for a variety of audiences and purposes with excellent design and layout skills
  • Experiencing developing templates and content to ensure presentations remain consistent and professional including text, graphics, and multimedia
  • Experiencing maintaining training activity reports and statistics
  • Experience teaching/training
