Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Client Services Manager, the Community Response Advocate provides in-person accompaniment during forensic medical exams to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
Key Responsibilities:
Key duties include delivering trauma informed, survivor-centered, and culturally responsive support, offering crisis intervention, and facilitating referrals to internal and external resources. The Advocate works closely with the Lead SART Advocate and the Community Response team to ensure 24/7 coverage and continuity of care for survivors.
Essential Functions:
Direct Services
· Provide in-person accompaniment to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault during forensic medical exams.
· Deliver crisis intervention, emotional support, and safety planning in a trauma-informed and culturally responsive manner.
· Conduct follow-up calls and facilitate warm hand-offs to internal and external services based on survivor needs.
· Advocate for survivors with external agencies (medical, law enforcement, social services) when requested by the survivor.
· Participate in law enforcement and district attorney interviews when accompaniment is requested by the survivor.
· Maintain professional, empowering relationships with clients that honor their autonomy and lived experiences.
Administrative
· Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of services provided using WEAVE’s client services data tracking system.
· Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training to enhance service delivery and professional development.
· Assist with maintaining inventory of intake forms, resource packets, and survivor support items (e.g., food, clothing).
· Support the manager and the Lead SART Advocate in coordinating coverage and team communication as needed.
Other Responsibilities
· Represent WEAVE at community events and presentations related to WEAVE services, as requested.
· Engage in ongoing training to stay informed about best practices in sexual assault and domestic violence advocacy and related intersections.
· Adhere to all agency and department policies and procedures.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Combination of education and experience to successfully fulfill position requirements; lived experience appreciated.
· Ability to work with survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence in crisis situations.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to advocate with authority figures.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
· Completion of WEAVE’s 69-hour training and certification program (post-hiring requirement).
· Reliable transportation.
· Satisfactory results from DOJ background check (post-employment offer requirement).

Work Environment:
This position is located in a busy office setting in a two-story building with stairs and an elevator. Local travel (driving) will be required to conduct meetings and other activities at various area locations. Employees may need to move around and between floors, occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 25 lbs., or reach items above their head, below their waist, or stored in/on drawers and shelves. Employees may also need to remain in one position (i.e. sitting or standing) for an extended period while completing work tasks. Must be able to efficiently operate a keyboard and mouse or adaptive equivalent, write reports, take notes; utilize desk tools such as phones or calculators, and utilize larger office equipment such as printers and copy machines. Communicate clearly and concisely to others. Apply above average reasoning and attention to detail as required in the accomplishment of job duties.
