POSITION PURPOSE

The Dealer Relationship Representative acts as a liaison to our indirect dealer partners on behalf of Del-One. The Dealer Relationship Representative is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining an indirect lending program that increases penetration in the indirect auto market that is in line with Del-One’s strategic lending objectives. Build and enhance relationships between Del-One and new and existing auto dealers. Review and analyze dealership performance and monitor Del-One’s indirect loan portfolio performance. The Dealer Relationship Representative is the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for indirect lending in the Vice President of Lending’s absence.


Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  1. Promote indirect lending products and programs to dealers to increase overall understanding of, and familiarity with products
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with dealerships by conducting visits on a regular basis
  3. Develop and maintain a business plan to increase the penetration of the indirect auto market
  4. Introduce the credit union’s indirect lending program to auto dealers that do not currently participate in the program
  5. Work closely with indirect Loan Processing Lead and Underwriting Manager 
  6. Keep up with changes in policy, guidelines, legal, and other compliance related issue
  7. Ensure existing dealer partners are operating within the terms of Del-One’s contract
  8. Maintain open line of communication with Lending team of changes to indirect market and economic conditions
  9. Provide stellar customer service to internal customers 
  10. Provide training when appropriate to processors and lenders
  11. Thoroughly convey to dealerships the requirements associated with new member onboarding, CIP, and field of membership requirements
  12. May not impact the decision of underwriting or collection of required items for processing and closing loans

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience or formal training
  • Valid driver’s license
  • 5+ years of experience with indirect lending or working in the automobile industry

JOB COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of vehicle lending concepts and principles as required
  • Exceptional understanding of automobile industry, supply chain, and inventory 
  • Knowledge of credit underwriting, consumer loan principles and concepts and automobile evaluation
  • Knowledge of retail lending concepts and principles
  • Thorough understanding and strong working knowledge of credit, underwriting, credit policy and financial statement analysis
  • Strong PC Skills (Loan Operating Systems, Adobe, Microsoft Windows Office Products, etc.)

Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery

Physical Strength: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally. (Almost all office jobs.) Must be able to remain stationary position up to 50% of time

REASONING ABILITY:

  •  Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization

MATHEMATICS ABILITY:

  • Ability to compute discount, interest, profit, and loss; commission markup and selling price; ratio and proportion and percentage.
  • Able to perform very simple algebra.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: 

  • Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, instruction manuals, atlases, and encyclopedias.
  • Ability to prepare memos, reports, and essays using proper punctuation, spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to communicate distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis; correct punctuation (or sign equivalent) and variation in word order; using present, perfect, and future tenses.
