Under the supervision of the Director of Patient Access, the Patient Access Manager-Pre Surgical Services establishes and coordinates all aspects of the Pre-Admission process to facilitate an efficient and customer-friendly atmosphere, in line with the mission and core values of FMOLHS. Patient Access Manager responsibilities may include: inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department pre-surgical screenings; time of service collections; screening for and referral, insurance verification, and pre-certification processes. Assures development of a high-performance work team through coaching, mentoring, and daily briefings. Responsible for analysis of performance metrics to improve process performance. Maintains all levels of the Admission process in conjunction with JCAHO standards and HIPPA regulations. Develops and maintains working relationships with physicians and office staff, as well as other customers within and outside the facility.

Responsibilities

Job Function:

  1. Serves on committees as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
  2. Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting while on duty. Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 10-15 pounds with or without assistance. Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required. Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast paced environment. Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests. Physical conditions are clean, neat and well lit. May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions need to be taken is essential. Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced. Exposure to limited amounts of hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility. Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to emergency circumstances. Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply. Personal protective equipment is made available and must be worn.

Qualifications

Education:

  1. Bachelor's Degree and 3 years supervisory experience OR 4 years professional-level experience/6 years paraprofessional experience (in lieu of degree) and 3 years supervisory experience OR Master's Degree and 2 years supervisory experience.

Work Experience:

  1. Supervisory experience must be in patient registration, large physician group practice, financial counseling or patient accounting in a healthcare setting.
