Responsibilities

Responsible for the administration of all community-based and professional certification test proctoring at both the Harper College main campus Testing Center as well as at the Learning and Career Center in Prospect Heights.  Maintains the scheduling of these exams at both test sites. Acts as the technical liaison between the various test vendors and the Harper College IT Department and supports vendor agreements as needed. Also responsible for seeking opportunities to administer other exams not currently offered in order to grow the community proctoring program. Would also assist in the process of formalizing those testing agreements.

Supports all community proctoring and licensure computer testing administered at both the Testing Center and Learning and Career Center. 

 

Administers and proctors computer-based tests including Pearson VUE, Prometric, Certiport, MSSC, Autodesk, PAN, Castle, ACT or other certification assessments, as well as Community Testing for a variety of institutions and purposes.

 

Maintains certifications and trainings necessary to deliver specialized exams like those required with Pearson Vue tests. 

 

Performs tester intake and monitors tester space in-person or using technology tools. Records incidents, including cheating, to supervisor and vendor.

 

Acts as point of communication between other colleges and universities regarding exam administration for other academic institutions. Maintains updated terms of agreement and proposes recommendations for modifications, including processes and fees.

Responds to inquiries via phone, email, in-person and specific test requirements such as procedures for registering for tests, coordination of special accommodations for testers, and testing policies or requirements based on specific vendor or College requirements. 

 

Builds, monitors and maintains computer-based testing schedules. 

 

Works with Harper College IT to identify testing lab software/hardware needs and communicates into documented specifications and SOPs.

 

Supports computer lab operation and equipment, including troubleshooting computer problems in testing areas and maintaining cleanliness of stations. 

 

Researches the Harper College community’s professional testing needs and initiates agreements with applicable testing vendors to expand the College’s testing program. 

 

Provides point of contact and training guidance for all personnel delivering computer-based licensing exams. 

 

Helps with front desk responsibilities of working with students at both the Testing Center and LCC. 

 

Provides assistance with special projects as assigned.

 

Maintains various departmental files and computer software licensing.

 

Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Associate Degree in Computer Science or related technical experience; Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent preferred.

 

Experience: Strong interpersonal, customer service, technical, and problem solving skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required. Two years’ experience with information systems and computer software databases preferred.  Knowledge of installing computer hardware, software and peripherals preferred. Pearson Vue certification preferred.

Position will require candidate to travel/split their work week between the Harper College main campus (Palatine, IL) and Harper College's extension site, Learning and Career Center (Prospect Heights).

Hours: Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
