- The Lead Piping Engineer – Offshore is responsible for leading the piping engineering team in delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective piping system designs for offshore oil & gas facilities. The role involves coordinating design activities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, managing project deliverables, and providing technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle. Lead and supervise the piping engineering team for offshore projects, ensuring timely and quality deliverables.
- Prepare, review, and approve piping design documents including P&IDs, layouts, isometrics, material specifications, and stress analysis reports.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, standards (ASME, API, ASTM, ISO), and client requirements.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (Process, Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, HSE).
- Provide technical solutions for complex offshore piping issues including layout optimization, constructability, flexibility, and safety considerations.
- Conduct stress analysis, pipe support design, and material selection for offshore environments (high pressure, corrosive, cryogenic, or high-temperature services).
- Ensure piping designs consider installation, inspection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance requirements.
- Participate in design reviews (3D model reviews, HAZOP, HAZID).
- Interface with clients, vendors, and subcontractors for technical clarifications and design approvals.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance to the team.
- Ensure adherence to project budget, schedule, and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- 15-20 years of experience in piping engineering, with at least 10+ years in offshore projects.
- Proven experience in leading teams on large EPC/EPCM/PMC offshore oil & gas projects.
- Strong knowledge of international design codes (ASME B31.3, B31.8, API, DNV, ISO).
- Proficiency in design tools: PDMS / E3D, PDS, Caesar II (stress analysis), AutoCAD, Navisworks.
- Familiarity with offshore standards (DNV, ABS, NORSOK).
- Strong understanding of offshore safety, constructability, and maintenance considerations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Capabilities in estimating and forecasting
