Summary:
The Overnight Patrol Driver ensures the safety of premises and personnel by patrolling the property, monitoring surveillance systems, and inspecting buildings and access points. Responsibilities include responding to alarms, reporting suspicious activity, and enforcing safety protocols and site regulations.
Essential Job Functions:
- Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property, inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points.
- Report suspicious activities and people, write detailed narrative reports, maintain daily activity reports, enforce rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and respond to emergency situations.
- Check for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, and unauthorized personnel.
- Operate radios, telephone equipment, and surveillance monitors.
- Answer or respond to alarms (on site) as dispatched and investigate related disturbances.
- Assist and partner with the onsite guard.
- Perform monthly safety audits.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Familiarity with basic radio communication protocols and use of surveillance or alarm systems.
- Two years of experience in security patrol or a related field.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time positions are defined as positions scheduled to work approximately 40 hours a week. Scheduling is at the discretion of the manager to meet the needs of the position. This position regularly requires overnight and weekend shifts.
This position is considered non-exempt under the federal and state wage and hour laws.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of the job, the employee will frequently work in outdoor settings (Zoo grounds). When outdoors this position is required to work in various weather conditions including rain, humidity, and extreme heat or cold.
Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This position requires frequent driving, sitting, walking, and standing, and may occasionally move or lift objects up to 20 pounds. Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders is required.
