Summary

A Hydraulic Engineer is responsible for designing, testing, and maintaining hydraulic systems. They utilize their expertise in fluid mechanics, physics, and engineering principles to analyze and develop sustainable solutions for hydraulic fluid power operated machines. 

Responsibilities

  1. Designing and analyzing hydraulic systems, including hoses and fittings, pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, rotary swivels, etc.
  2. Creating and reading hydraulic schematics in accordance with company and industry  standards.
  3. Collaborating with other engineers and professionals to develop hydraulic systems which integrate well with the mechanical structures and electrical circuits.
  4. Identifying and evaluating potential risks and hazards associated with hydraulic systems and implementing appropriate safety measures.
  5. Performing hydraulic calculations, simulations, and modeling to predict the behavior and performance of hydraulic systems.
  6. Overseeing the construction and installation of hydraulic systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  7. Conducting research and staying up to date on the latest advancements in hydraulic fluid power technologies and components.
  8. Managing project budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to ensure project success.
  9. Collaborating with sales and service representatives of the company to verify customer experience and continuously improve the hydraulic systems.
  10. Troubleshooting issues and failures of hydraulic components in the shop and field both in-person and over the phone.

 QUALIFICATIONS  

Bachelor’s Degree and/or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a related field. 

EXPERIENCE  

  •  1-2 years direct industry work experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience working on/with mobile hydraulic equipment
  • Design software – 3D and 2D (SolidWorks, OnShape and Automation Studio preferred). 
  • Microsoft Office-Proficient in Excel and Word
  • IFPS Fluid Power Certification preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS  

Ability to read and interpret documents; ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively with other employees of organization and vendors.  

REASONING ABILITY  

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with multiple variables.  

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES  

Highly detail oriented and organized in work. Acceptable written and oral communication skills. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with a customer service focus with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results. Must have initiative and the ability to act and operate independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives. Must possess a strong desire to learn. Mechanical skills/experience with heavy trucks and heavy equipment are a plus.
