- Lead daily shift operations, ensuring timely startup and smooth execution of dispatch activities
- Supervise work at multiple yard locations, providing on-site oversight and guidance
- Manage labor, fuel, and fleet maintenance costs, minimizing route miles and improving efficiency
- Track KPIs to support performance management and operational decisions
- Prioritize loads, define routes, and set schedules that meet customer expectations and regulatory standards
- Resolve issues with drivers, carriers, and port operators to ensure timely pickups and deliveries
- Monitor container activity to reduce demurrage and storage fees
- Maintain technical knowledge of contracts, safety requirements, and operational schedules
- Partner with labor unions to address issues proactively and support positive relationships
- Supervise union employees with coaching, performance management, and documented disciplinary actions as needed
- Ensure accurate reporting, recordkeeping, and compliance documentation
- Meet or exceed KPIs including labor hours, transportation costs, and safety compliance
- Minimize workplace injuries and accidents through effective safety management
- Optimize resources while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction
- Build a strong, high-performing team culture in a union environment
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; related college coursework preferred
- Licenses & Certifications: Valid state driver’s license required; TWIC card required; Class A CDL strongly preferred
- Experience: 5+ years in the transportation industry with intermodal experience required; union environment experience strongly preferred
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Familiarity with DOT safety compliance
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate), Word, and Outlook
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure with minimal supervision

- Physical Requirements: Daily walking in yard environments, frequent computer use, occasional lifting up to 20 lbs
