Salary Range:                                       Starting salary $192,822


Basic Function

The CTSO serves as the principal executive for technology strategy, cybersecurity, and information governance in the Office of Attorney General. This role ensures secure, compliant, and effective digital systems to support investigative, enforcement, and administrative operations. Responsibilities include cybersecurity implementation and oversight, data protection, system improvement, and alignment with state and federal security standards.


The CTSO will report directly to the Chief of Staff and advise the Chief of Staff and Director of Finance regarding the financial needs, budgeting, and expenditure of information technology funds. 


Position Duties


  • Lead the Office’s technology and cybersecurity strategy, including development of platforms, implementation of policies, incident response protocols, and consultant oversight.
  • Serve as senior advisor to agency leadership on cyber risk, infrastructure resilience, and legal technology trends. 
  • Develop a roadmap to ensure a secure environment and continue to identify areas for more efficient and effective security. 
  • Provide leadership and oversight to staff responsible for the agency’s technology architecture, including case management systems, digital evidence platforms, cloud services, forensics tools, and e-discovery systems.
  • Direct cybersecurity incident management in coordination with legal, communications, and IT teams.
  • Ensure collaboration with law enforcement, state administration, and other agencies and stakeholders in all relevant areas.
  • Coordinate cybersecurity related training for OAG staff and consultants.
  • Identify and implement policies related to artificial intelligence and data governance, ensuring ethical use, transparency, security, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
  • Lead and manage the OAG IT team and provide oversight over technology-related vendors and consultants.
  • Develop, review, and refine IT policies and protocols to ensure clarity, compliance, and alignment with organizational standards.

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive IT/cybersecurity leadership experience, including 5 years in the public sector or high-stakes environment.
  • Proven experience managing cybersecurity operations and leading secure technology initiatives. Position requires exceptional leadership, management, and communication skills. 
  • Background in developing and implementing technology strategic plans and associated metrics.
