We are a dynamic aerospace manufacturing company dedicated to delivering innovative solutions for our customers. Our team is committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, security, and efficiency in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior System Administrator to join our IT department and help ensure the reliability, security, and performance of our infrastructure.

Position Summary

As a Senior System Administrator, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the company’s IT systems and networks. You will collaborate closely with other members of the IT team to ensure our systems meet organizational and regulatory requirements—particularly those related to CMMC (Level 2) and other compliance frameworks. This position involves hands-on technical work, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of our secure IT environment.

Key Responsibilities

Server Administration

o Install, configure, and manage Windows and Linux servers (physical and virtual).

o Manage server roles including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and file/print services.

o Perform regular patch management, updates, and system optimizations.

Network Management

o Support and maintain network infrastructure components, including switches, routers, and firewalls.

o Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues.

o Collaborate with the network engineering team to ensure optimal and secure network operation.

Security & Compliance

o Adhere to cybersecurity best practices and regulatory requirements (e.g., CMMC Level 2, NIST SP 800-171)

o Monitor system logs, enforce security policies, and perform incident responses as necessary.

o Collaborate with the security team to identify and remediate vulnerabilities, ensuring systems are audit ready.

Virtualization & Cloud

o Manage and maintain virtual environments (e.g., Mixed ESXI, VMware, Hyper-V).

o Provision and optimize virtual machines to meet performance and capacity requirements.

o Support cloud-based services and integration as needed – AWS, Azure, M3655

Backup & Disaster Recovery

o Implement and manage data backup and disaster recovery solutions.

o Regularly test backups and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and business continuity.

End-User & Technical Support

o Provide Tier 2/3 support to end users and other IT teams.

o Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner.

o Maintain documentation of systems, processes, and resolutions.

o Available for on-call work – nights and weekends – as assigned

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

o Work closely with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Security, Networking) to optimize systems and workflows.

o Participate in capacity planning, system upgrades, and IT projects.

o Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend improvements.

o Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Education & Experience:

o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).

o 5+ years of proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.

Technical Skills:

o Proficiency in Windows Server and/or Linux administration.

o Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, etc.).

o Familiarity with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).

o Basic networking knowledge (LAN/WAN, VLANs, firewalls, routing protocols).

Security & Compliance:

o Knowledge of CMMC Level 2, NIST SP 800-171, or similar security frameworks is highly desirable.

o Experience with security best practices (patching, vulnerability management, threat detection).

Soft Skills:

o Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.

o Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

o Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

o Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

o Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, Network+).

o Experience in an aerospace or manufacturing environment.

o Familiarity with backup technologies.

o Database maintenance experience

Physical Demands

The Senior Systems Administrator will have to spend time sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain and eye strain.
