Weed Army Community Hospital (WACH), Ft Irwin, CA, our client, is a United States Army installation located in the Mojave Desert in northern San Bernardino County, California. Fort Irwin provides realistic joint and combined arms training focused on developing Soldiers, leaders, and units of America's Army for success on the 21st century battlefield.
The Patient Appointment Services Clerk will not work in Ft Irwin, but rather, in McLean, Virginia at a corporate office call center. Due to time zone differences and availability, our appointment clerks will work the hours between 9:55am and 7:00pm.
We are looking for an experienced Patient Appointment Services Clerk - full time position in McLean, VA, to screen all calls to determine the nature of the call and advise patients properly in the event of a medical emergency and/or crises.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Ensure timely and effective scheduling of patients for Primary Care, Specialty and Consult visits. These appointments are made via phone contacts and through mail follow-up.
- May route calls to the appropriate follow up, such as pharmacy or nursing.
- Answer and screen telephone calls from patients, other staff members and the public.
- Proficiency is required in the use of all updated clinical scheduling software packages, such as DEERS and Genesis. Must adhere to outlined time frames for scheduling purposes.
- Perform data entry and updates documents of workload in Microsoft Excel or any approved software, such as CHCS or Genesis
- Apply extensive knowledge of Advanced Clinic Access mandates as they pertain to meeting performance monitors.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or GED.
- Strong computer skills are necessary. A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel are required.
- Ability to type a minimum of 50 WPM
- Knowledge of CHCS or Genesis.
- Customer service experience in a clinical setting is preferred. Knowledge of Privacy Act for patient privacy is essential.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, learn fast and adapt to change.
- Ability to work independently following established instructions and guidelines.
- Excellent telephone customer service and efficient verbal communication skills are required.
- Ability to organize and coordinate follow-up communication through mailing of appointment letters and draft documents as necessary
- Ability to complete standard reports without errors or omissions.
