Job Title: SSHE Coordinator III
Location: Carlsbad, NM (Hub)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 40 hours per week (typically 50–55 hrs. with rotating on-call nights & weekends)

 

Position Overview
We are seeking SSHE Coordinator III professionals to support Business Line Safety, Security, Health, and Environment (SSHE) stewardship in Carlsbad, NM. These roles will focus heavily on stewarding contractors, particularly logistics companies such as water hauling, sand hauling, and third-party service providers. Coordinators will provide on-site safety presence, ensure contractor compliance with safety standards, and act as the bridge between field drivers and management expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary safety liaison with logistics contractors (water trucks, sand trucks, hauling companies, etc.)
  • Set and communicate expectations for safe operations to contractors and share findings with both Exxon and contractor management
  • Conduct on-site safety stewardship (“boots on the ground”), observing logistics activities and providing real-time feedback to drivers and crews
  • Develop and deliver SHE training and communications for contractors and employees
  • Review and evaluate contractor safety plans and procedures
  • Perform job risk analyses, communicate findings, and ensure corrective actions are implemented
  • Monitor and ensure data integrity and reporting within safety systems
  • Compile, analyze, and report SHE performance statistics
  • Support company supervisors by coordinating and implementing the contractor safety program

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required
  • Prior experience in logistics or operations safety roles (preferred: water hauling, sand hauling, or similar contractor oversight)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service mindset
  • Ability to work independently in the field with strong self-discipline
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Critical thinker with ability to influence safe practices without direct authority
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of safety management systems, emergency preparedness, and contractor safety compliance

Role Details
  • Rotating on-call responsibilities including nights and weekends
  • Typically 50–55 hours per week (40 base + overtime as needed)
  • Contractor-facing role focused on stewardship and accountability in logistics operations
  • Not a lead role, but requires field presence and the ability to influence safe contractor performance.
