SHIFT TIME:           11:00 AM - 2:00 PM

COMPENSATION:       Per OAPSE Contract

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Health Aide
QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of a high school diploma.
State of Ohio Certified Medical Assistant credentials (preferred).
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Must be First Aid and CPR certified.
The ability to effectively work with people.
Basic keyboarding skills.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Reports To:

School Nurse
Building Principals
Coordinator of Pupil Personnel Service

Job Goal:
To provide health services to students and staff members to maximize health and wellness in the school community. All duties are performed in accordance with district and state board of education policies and procedures and state law regarding delegated nursing services.

Terms of Employment: As per the negotiated agreement for classified staff

Performance Responsibilities:

Provides health services, first aid, illness intervention, administration of medication, and emergency care to students and staff in accordance with school policy and procedures, and state and local mandates.
Administers medication with appropriate documentation as trained by a school nurse.
Maintains accurate medical records to assure compliance with state mandates and related archival responsibilities.
Performs screenings as mandated by district personnel.
Maintains communication with principal, teachers, other school personnel, and parents/guardians to address health and safety needs of students
Under the jurisdiction of a school nurse:
- Helps to provide health services and information in an effective and positive manner to enhance the health and wellness of the school community.
- Complies data for statistical purposes.
- Completes reports as needed.
Maintains confidentiality regarding school and health-related issues.
Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties.
Maintains a positive environment of school clinics.
Assures that school clinics are supplied.
Maintains contact with school nurses and utilizes continuing education opportunities to enhance professional knowledge.
Works cooperatively with the building administrative assistant and other school personnel.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
