The Outbound Supervisor is responsible for the complete operational oversight and leadership of the dock team. They are responsible for achieving on-time initiatives, departures, and delivery goals where applicable by delegating tasks and allocating manpower throughout the shift as well as monitoring performance, attendance, and personnel issues within their department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for achieving on-time initiatives, on-time departures, and on-time delivery goals as applicable.
  • Supervise all dock staff to monitor attendance, performance, and be the first point of contact to resolve employee issues.
  • Monitor department hours to reach daily and weekly targets.
  • Keep the Operations Manager and other leadership informed on daily operations including shuttles, equipment availability, and target goals.
  • Monitor employee performance and issue corrective actions in partnership with Human Resources as needed.
  • Responsible for associate training and ensuring that the team has adequate training, equipment, and daily work instruction to complete their tasks.
  • Monitor attendance in accordance with company policy and issue corrective action as needed.
  • Review and approve or deny time off requests.
  • Report any damaged trailers, forklifts, scanners, and other equipment to the maintenance division or appropriate department for repairs in a timely manner.
  • Keep team informed on workload, shift goals, metrics, company announcements, and safety through daily huddles, meetings, or other communications.
  • Interview and hire new employees for team as needed to maintain an appropriate headcount to meet customer needs.

Education and Experience:

  • 1-2 years transportation supervisory experience including supervising truck drivers or dockworkers.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrate a record of accomplishment in meeting and exceeding goals in previous positions.
  • Excellent customer service and employee relations skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Walking and standing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

  • Shift starts at 5:00 PM.
  • 8-10 hour shift.
  • Monday to Friday
