Description
This role is a senior technical leadership role on the Product Development Electrical Engineering team focusing on digital design for LED lighting and controls products. This role will demonstrate technical leadership through architecture development, product & technology platform management & strategy, trade-off analysis, knowledge management, concept development, hardware NRE & bill of materials cost estimations, mastery of development tools, and design in compliance with industry standards of safety and quality for hardware platforms across multiple product lines.

Technical Leadership – Performs trade-off analysis, knowledge management, concept development, estimating, mastery of development tools, compliance to industry safety and electrical standards.
Responsible for product and platform circuit design of:
o Processing platforms within the various processing classes:
MCU platforms (mixed signal)
MPU & application processor platforms (DDR, high speed digital designs)
o Hardware architectures with connectivity technologies
BT, Wi-Fi, cellular 4G/5G, LTE-M, LoraWAN, UWB.
(e.g. SPI, I2C/I2S, USB, CAN-FD, LIN, Ethernet, Automotive Ethernet)
o High current linear and switching DC-DC power supply designs that meet or exceed EMC standards.
Responsible for electrical hardware design for products throughout the development lifecycle - from ideation through production.
Define and break down complex system tasks for design team members (internal and external resources) through all design phases.
Demonstrate professional technical leadership excellence

Mentor team members and receive supervisory and mentor feedback.
Lead electronic hardware design reviews with program teams.
Lead research into new technologies, and new design paradigms.

Complete assigned project work on time, and
Design and develop product specifications including schematic, PCB layout of prototypes, analysis, cost reductions and feasibility.
Responsible for designing for EMC, ESD, and transient protection per industry best practices and to meet relevant standards.
Coordinate verification and validation of products through internal and external testing facilities (DVP&R) and utilize results to drive continuous improvements.
Understand and account for product, customer, and regulatory requirements in design work.
Develop concepts, drawings, charts, or other project/design documentation.
Document engineering work in compliance with ISO quality requirements.
Works with EE lab technicians and PCB designers to coordinate prototypes and produce robust and high-quality electrical designs.
Communicate and coordinate with other departments, customers, and suppliers to resolve open issues.

Must Have:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. (preferred master’s degree in relevant electrical and/or computer engineering areas of focus).
10+ years of engineering experience with technical leadership role or responsibilities.
Demonstrable experience with successful product launches as primary designer, preferably including digital designs for lighting and controls.
Experience with mid to high power supply designs for automotive and automotive adjacent applications.
Relevant engineering experience with CAD or software packages is essential to the job’s core functions – circuit design/schematic capture, PCB layout, and circuit simulation. (preferred experience in Altium Designer and LTSpice).

Nice to Have:
Experience designing electronic products with pre-certified wireless radio modules. (espressif, Nordic, etc..)
Experience designing analog audio amplifiers – Class D
Product design experience in one or more regulated markets (e.g. Automotive, Medical, Aerospace, DoD).
Technical training, i.e., SAE lighting requirements, SAE vehicle specifications, automotive OEM requirements, DFMEA, and PFMEA.
Experience with electronic assembly and PCBA design for manufacturing.
Experience working with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks.
Experience with Jira or similar issue tracking software.
Experience with Jama Connect or similar requirements management software.
Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
Able to stand, sit, walk, bend, twist, rotate, and/or reach throughout an entire shift.
Must be able to handle and work with small parts.
