About the Department
Brunswick County Social Services is looking for a detail-oriented Office Manager to support leadership and oversee essential administrative functions to maintain smooth departmental operations.
The Office Manager provides administrative support to the Social Services Director and assists with the day-to-day operations of the department. This position includes completing human resource forms, serving as a point of contact during the hiring process, conducting departmental new hire orientation, updating and maintaining office policies, procedures, equipment, and forms, managing special projects, and collaborating with the management team and other county departments.
The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills, be organized and proficient with MS Word, Excel, and office equipment, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

- Associate’s Degree and five years of progressively responsible secretarial or clerical/administrative experience including one year of administrative or office management experience; or
- Completion of a two-year secretarial science or business administration program and three years of progressively responsible secretarial or clerical/administrative experience including one year of administrative or office management experience; or
- Completion of a four-year program in a college or university preferably with major emphasis on coursework in business administration, public administration or other related field and six months of administrative or office management experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Other Qualifications
Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment. Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
